The Top 10 Indie Games

As time has gone by the naming convention of considering every game that is small in scope a indie game doesn't quite fit anymore. But I doubt we'll ever come up with a better name for it so this is my top 10 favorite indie games.

List items

  • Being a brutal sociopath has never been this fun before. The thumping beats along with the trippy visuals and the easily repeatable stages make this my favorite indie game.

  • Once again the visuals and the music make this a unique metroidvania game. This was also one of the few games I kept coming back for more for a total of 4 compete playthroughs. Which is why it gets the number 2 spot on this list.

  • Beginning to think good visuals is all a game needs to be on my top 3 list. The fact that it is a great fighting game and it also has a good tutorial makes this my third favorite indie game.

  • Another metroidvania, this time with a 16 bit motif. A fun combat system mixed with some nice music lets this game get my #4 spot on this list.

  • This is most likely the only game that doesn't quite fit into the indie game category. But it did bring back the fact that a simple arcade like game could still be fun in this age of muti-million dollar games. So it deserves the 5th spot on this list.

  • A story told via narration only isn't something you see in a video game often. The pretty visuals and the top down action based combat also left a impression on me. So that is why it has obtained the #6 spot on this list.

  • Now it is time for the games that just kept me coming back for more. The amount of variation each time Isaac attempts to escape the basement is staggering. I just had to come back for more since it was fun and something new kept appearing each playthrough. Thus it gets the #7 spot on this list.

  • Becoming a better player either by repeating the content or being able to improve the character is reason why I like Rogue Legacy. Slowly mastering the gameplay along with making my legacy better is why this game got the #8 spot.

  • I never thought I would like another sports game since NBA Jam. Yet the fact alone that this game made me like another sports game makes it worth mentioning on this list as my ninth favorite indie game.

  • Turns out I kinda like rogue-like games huh? This one is also a space sim as well. Simple tough but easy to manage battles/scenarios kept me coming back for more. Which is why this sneaks on the list as #10
