Wow, that's surprising. What will this mean for Giant Bomb though? Will you start using V8 in the future for these projects, or will you stick to using H.264 for the Safari users? And for us Linux users, with Chrome gone, there's no mainstream browser available with native support for H.264 as far as I know...

Hopefully this development won't mean that developers go back to using flash exclusively for streaming, though. Fingers crossed.

I agree with most of the choices in this category, especially Kirby's Epic Yarn as best looking game. That game looks fantastic through and through, and is a testament to how developers should try to work around the technical limitations of the console rather than fight them. Haven't played God of War III because it's just not my kind of game, but the little I've seen of it (which admittedly is limited to the E3 footage) looked wholly unremarkable and unimpressive to me. Final Fantasy XIII looks absolutely breathtaking at  times, especially some of the locales, but the character designs, especially some of the supporting cast (blue-haired rebel guy, I'm looking at you) are so horrible that it really puts me off the whole game.

Probably would've chosen Super Meat Boy over Pac-Man CE DX as best downloadable game, but whatever. And I guess it's time to boot up Bioshock 2 for the first time and play through Minerva's Den, even though the podcast pretty much spoiled the big twist for me (yeah, I know, my own fault).

So basically, every game comes with its own set of "unique" collectibles (various snowmen, plants, statues, etc), and to get them all, you have to share them with someone you know. If I share my items with you, you will get access to the unique items in my world and vice versa. There's two achievements tied to this function (one for receiving collectibles from another player, and one for building 25 unique decorative pieces).

Now, seeing as it's Christmas time, let's share the love and our collectibles with each other. My gamertag is "Vetle" (without the quotation marks). Send me a message via the Sharing-option in the pause menu, and I'll make sure to repay the favor. :)

Some time in the far, far future... when religion, countries and poverty are a thing of the past. I do think we'll eventually get there, just that it'll take a long, long time. I mean, just look at what mankind has achieved these past five thousand years of written history (let alone this past century), I think it's difficult to remain pessimistic. But it won't happen soon or anything like that.

That, or, you know, when the aliens inevitably invade us, I'm sure mankind will unite under one banner (creating world peace) to fight against the alien hordes, Mass Effect style.

I don't think we can blame all the bugs on the engine... there were, after all, some competent and relatively bug-free games released that were using that engine. I think it has more to do with the massive scope and complexity of the world, and the developers themselves. But hey, new engine is awesome anyway. Hopefully it'll be just as permitting when it comes to mods as the old engine was.

H.264, huh? That sucks for Firefox and Opera users, though I guess that's more their fault rather than yours. :\ Oh well. Tested it out with Chrome on my netbook, and it runs surprisingly smooth when compared to the flash video on the site now (where even low quality streaming is unplayable). Seemed like the progress bar was messed up though, probably? because of the slowdown. Other than that, I really like the design of it, so kudos. Seems like a great addition to the site.

No chance what so ever of supporting Theora in the future, right? I guess I'll just have to cross my fingers that Opera will completely reverse their stance and implement H.264 support. Seems like it's the way of the future, what with YouTube and practically every other HTML5 video streaming website out there.

We played a round of Mario Party once during a party, that was fun. If you won during a minigame, you had to drink. I was the one at the party with easily the most gaming experience, so I got pretty drunk that night ... probably more drunk than I've ever been before or since. But it was fun, and it was a nice way of enforcing a kind of natural handicap. If you won too much, eventually you got so smashed that you stopped winning. In theory, at least. I still won overall. Other than that, there's been a couple of parties where Guitar Hero or Singstar were on the TV somewhere, if that counts.

Other than that, I've played some Forza 3 and Starcraft II on occasion when coming home from parties. I stop drinking pretty early when I'm out, but I still drove like crap four hours later or so, so I guess the moral is to not drink and drive. Interesting experience nonetheless. My Starcraft II game seems to get slightly better when drunk, though. Guess that tells you how crappy a Starcraft II player I am when I'm sober. :P

It's been winter (snow) here since late October, and tomorrow is the last day the sun rises above the horizon until 20th of January. It's rough. But hey, at least it's Christmas soon, and if when the heavy clouds finally clear, we'll probably be able to see the northern lights. I'm looking forward to that. :)

@beej: Yeah, that was actually a really poor argument from my side, thanks for pointing it out. There obviously has to be a strict divide between legal and illegal actions in the law. I guess my position on the matter is this: Cannabis and other drugs should be illegal.

Tobacco and ethanol should ideally also be illegal, but I realize this is rather unrealistic. Instead, they should tax the hell out of them and try to reduce their uses in other ways. Or something.

All, of course, in my humble opinion.

@lilburtonboy7489: I don't believe there's a real hard line between what should be legal and what should be illegal. I guess there's always going to be a grey area. But I do believe that cannabis and other drugs are far over on the 'should be illegal'-side of things, and I consider them to be far worse than tanning beds, McDonalds, concerts and a whole lot more.
