I'm not feeling it like I did the first game. Suppose much of it is down to the first game just blasting out of the gates in a blaze of glory, and then the sequel just kind of keeps rolling three years later. I do appreciate that they've expanded on the orcs and the whole metagame surrounding that. That's what's cool and interesting about this game.
Haven't played the first game in a while, but in my memory this is basically the same thing again in regards to the action gameplay, only combat encounters are more frustrating. It's hard to get any flow going because there's almost always some asshole throwing a spear or doing some {A} attack or this or that. And often it seems like they never stop coming. I just don't find it fun to be forced to play so defensively. Maybe there's some way of addressing this by utilizing some power or tactic or whatever, but I ain't got time to figure that out when I have all this shit trying to murder me. I'm just gonna keep dodging forever.
I can't care about the story or world. It's largely boring and dreary. Talion is an utterly dour, mean asshole. Kind of wish he would stay dead.
It's a partially interesting game, but most of it I'm just not that into. I ought to be at least halfway in and I'm gonna start cheating some, see if that'll get me through the rest of it.
I was never a NeoGAF user, but I guess I'm surprised that there seems to be a lot of people who are looking forward to the site possibly coming back. Knowing what you know now about Malka, and having experienced him apparently unilaterally shutting the entire thing off with the flip of a switch, why would you ever dedicate one more second of your time to a site like that?
I'm surprised that's what it seems like. Everything I've seen (granted that's not everything) has been along the lines of "Fuck that guy and his place."
If anyone's looking forward to the site coming back, I assume it's because it allows us to basically go back, get our stuff and do this before we leave.
I thought he was abandoning his sinking ship and/or burning his bridge when taking down the whole place, what's use did it serve if he's gonna put it back online with him in charge again?
Presumably he took it down for actual maintenance. Preparing for this future without an OT section and whatnot.
When it supposedly goes back up this evening, it's going to be such a shitstorm. I'm not gonna go look at that trainwreck, I just wanted the site back up so I could read the promised forthcoming statement, and now I have. I was hoping it could be salvaged, but NeoGAF is now just a memory.
I was always more of a sporadic visitor/viewer of Yahtzee and Sterling videos than an actual user, so wasn't particularly familiar with what The Escapist once did well. I hear stories of the site once being a catalyst for letting good people do good work, but I feel like the time for mourning that loss was some time ago, some time before management decided it was a good idea to latch onto Gamergate. That's when I know it all started going down the tubes with the quickness. So when it's now circling the drain, I can't feel sad about it. All I can manage is to wish well the people who stuck around up until these layoffs, who were decent folks. They don't deserve what the shitty management brought.
