@Silock: Greg Kasavin is on the Happy Hour a lot to promote his new video game, they talk to Rich Gallup a decent amount, particularly on podcasts and during conferences and expos, and Carrie Gouskos (sp?) submitting a Top 10 Games of 2010 list at the end of the year for a feature on the site.
It's not the new old Gamespot in style, but you'll see a lot of your old favorites around, and some of the old features have been adopted and expanded upon.
Plus, as a former 1UPper, I love the stuff they've done with Jeff Green. Hope he keeps coming back.
@Enigma777: Obsidian's KOTOR. KOTOR 2. The KOTOR by Obsidian. The one where they said the first game's hero was missing to save the world from an unknown threat and that the sequel's hero was going to join him.
@kingzetta: The Wii version wasn't that bad, but yeah, the PS2 version is better. I wasn't talking about "on a Nintendo console" I was talking about a Nintendo-style game.
" @XII_Sniper: Castlevania cloned Metroid. That's the best example I can come up with. "
Very true, they were quite successful in that regard, but to Castlevania's credit, Nintendo kinda abandoned that style of Metroid game. I don't even know what Metroid really is anymore, if they'll continue down Other M's route or go back to the Prime games, or go even further back to the Castleroid style games. Speaking of which, there's a reason people have called it that, pretty much Castlevania was one of the only franchises to use that design, short of a couple other games like Shadow Complex and stuff. So it's worked for Konami, but not necessarily a lot of other people. "
I've never heard this style not referred to as Metroidvania. "Castleroid" is a new one.
