Attempting the impossible 0

I will be one of the first to admit that I think Resident Evil 4 is one of the best, most innovative video games ever made, plain and simple. Yet whenever such a game comes out, the inevitable question always surfaces: How can a sequel possibly live up to the standards set before it? The short answer is that it can't- but it also doesn't need to. Resident Evil 5 is more or less content to bring us more of the fantastic gunplay that defined Resident Evil 4, and as a result is another thrilling ac...

Sometimes, Lightning Does Strike Twice 0

Once upon a time, Capcom turned its flagship series on its head with Resident Evil 4, and in the process transmorphed the 3rd person shooter genre. I don't think it's hyperbole to say that games like Gears of War wouldn't exist in their current forms if RE4 hadn't rocked the gaming world back then. So how do you follow up what is arguably one of the most beloved games of all time? The answer is, you double the fun by adding a wicked co-op feature, but otherwise leave the beloved gameplay schema ...

I need... HAAAAALLP 0

Just in order to get straight to the point, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if you liked Resident Evil 4 (and you should have) you will almost certainly enjoy Resident Evil 5.  This is because the basics of the game are essentially unchanged for Capcom's newest zombie thriller.  Everything from the way the game controls to the way the environments are set up to the way your enemies try to take you down is extremely close to what you find in Resident Evil 4.  The crazy frantic fight fo...

Dissapointing and surprisingly generic yet still addictingly fun. 0

Game series hardly ever manage to really last forever, besides a notable few most of gamings top franchises have either simply hit over to the retirement home or have began to delve into mediocrity and more or less becomes a nuisance to the gaming world.Resident Evil 5 isn't exactly either. Its certaintly showing its age and lack of innovation yet still has plenty of energy left which does transend into its highly addictive latest outing.RE5 reunites classic RE fans ((and introducing the RE4 fan...

A fitting Finale to a 10 year story arc- 0

My Expectations for Resident Evil 5 were pretty average when i first heard of it, but at that point i had not played a Resident Evil game before, after getting into the series and seeing the trailers before the games release , i felt i was now ready....to shoot some (not)zombies. So the game has you playing as recurring character of the series "Chris Redfield" on a mission to investigate bio terrorism in Africa, once he lands in Africa and meets the new companion character of the game "Sheva Alam...

A Familiar But Excellent Experience. 0

Chris Redfield is back, and he's ready to get to the bottom of a new outbreak in Africa.I spent a lot of time thinking about Resident Evil 5 before its release. Its predecessor is one of my favourite games of all-time, and with such an incredibly high standard, I was very sceptical to play the newest entry. However, you may find yourself surprised by just how good it really is. The first thing you’ll notice about the game, aside from its breathtaking visuals, is that its gameplay is antiquated. ...

Amazingly polished, yet flawed in some ways. 0

It’s a bit strange where Capcom is these days, in some ways they are the rouge Japanese developer that goes against the traditions of Japanese game design with games like Bionic Commando and Street Fighter HD Remix, but sometimes they fall back on their Japanese roots with some things like the online in Street Fighter 4. Resident Evil 5 stands in the middle of these two things, and what it results in is a game that is very similar to Resident Evil 4 that has solid and great action with amazing s...

Residental evil 5,the Good, the bad and the ugly 0

Just a reason to kill zombies or just to get scared, When I heard orginally that the zombies were going to be popular politicion (yeah, like there is any popular politicion in this world HaHaHaa) I was outraged by this, but then I found out that there is a secert banana which grants the wearer the powers to become invunerable and to have a banana tasting flesh which makes the zombies even more blood hungry, so you and your hot girlfriend ( she is not your girlfriend, but a man can dream) so any ...

This the Resident Evil We've been waiting for 0

4 years ago, Resident Evil 4 came out and showed the world what it was made of. Thanks to great Controls, great graphics, a good story line, fun and addictive gameplay, and so much more, it's no wounder why it had 3 versions made after it's gamecube release. But finally, Resident Evil 5 is here and lives ups to it's expectations. Resident Evil 5 story isn't scary, but still good. The story puts us in the boots of Resident Evil 1's hero, Chris Redfield. Chris, and his new partner Sheva Alomar, ar...

Scared yet? Neither am I. 0

For about ten hours, Resident Evil 5 provides one of the most polished action experiences on consoles. The graphics are jaw-dropping, the setpieces are ludicrously intense, and the story is wonderful and campy. Although RE5 seems to have transcended the need to actually be scary, the heartpounding action more than makes up for the loss of the horror elements. The full package amounts to one of the most polished video games I've ever played. Unfortunately, RE5 is a 12-13 hour experience in single...

I just flew in from Kijuju and boy are my arms tired! Ba-Dum-Cha! 0

Resident Evil 5 is a hard game to review as you have to approach it with a measured amount of sensitivity thanks to the controversy that has undeservingly swirled around it. And yes, I said "undeservingly." Having played through the entire game (on Veteran mind you) I can say that the influence of "racism" has been overplayed. If you can get over the fact that you're curb-stomping someone into oblivion, you can get over the fact that you're shelling out buck in Africa. The violence is so over th...

Solid, But Not Spectacular 0

When you talk about Resident Evil 5, you're going to hear a lot of comparisons to Resident Evil 4.  You've already heard a ton of them.  You're going to hear a lot more.  There are very good reasons for this.  One of them is that RE4 was a groundbreaking game that was an incredible experience.  It changed the way people thought of the Resident Evil universe, and was important to the future development of third person shooters.  One other reason why the comparisons to RE4 is justified is that RE5...

Resident Evil 5 Review 0

After Resident Evil 4 took a bold and successful venture into a different genre, any sequel that looks remotely similar was destined to be a very hyped game. Resident Evil 5’s hype went beyond that of Resident Evil 4. The trailers that were showed off the gameplay that many came to adore after playing Resident Evil 4, and got people very excited for the game. After a less than amazing demo was released, the full game is now available. Is Capcom’s latest effort as good as Resident Evil 4, or doe...

A fantastic follow up to a revolutionary game. 0

The first thing that possibly went through the minds of gamers who were blown away by RE4 and couldn't wait for the sequel, was "how could it be better than RE4?". And while the task of following up on a masterpiece such as Resident Evil 4 is daunting in appearance, Resident Evil 5 manages to be an ultimately satisfying experience that succeeds as a sequel to its revolutionary predecessor.        Gameplay:The gameplay of RE5 will right out feel familiar to many gamers as mostly the same as...

Lots of Fun, Not Terribly Racist 0

Cross-posted with my site gammatesting.comFirst of all, let’s get the big question out of the way first: Is Resident Evil 5 a racist videogame? Not really. It’s just racially insensitive and culturally clumsy. More on that in a bit. The second big question: Is Resident Evil 5 a good game? Yes it is, depending on how you play it, except for the parts that suck. Capcom had a daunting challenge to follow up the almost universally adored and acclaimed Resident Evil 4, a fun, cool, strange, challengi...

A finely crafted action experience that will divide players 0

Resident Evil on the ps1 was possibly one of the earliest video games I recall playing, along with the scarily pyramid-breasted Tomb Raider game. It's a game that at the time (and granted I was probably far too young to be playing it) had the ability to scare the crap out of you several times over. It was suspenseful... atmospheric..and it had intense action  and great visuals to boot. And whilst the puzzles were challenging enough to make me want to punch the controller into my face at some p...

Resident Evil 5 isn't perfect, but it's an enjoyable experience 0

Resident Evil is one of those long-standing franchises Capcom possesses that make fans go absolutely mad with excitement and nostalgia. However, with Resident Evil 4, Capcom drastically flipped the wheel on the franchise, with gameplay that was very unsimilar to its predecessors. The game was hated by some, but became a huge succes overall. As such, it comes as no surprise that Resident Evil 5 is an exact copy of the fourth iteration in the franchise in many ways. It does change up a couple of t...

RE5 is everything I was hoping it would be...besides the ammo 0

Resident Evil 5, the sequel to one of the best games on the PS2 immediately went on everyones wish list; even the ones who had not played the other resident evil games. The game was the talk of everyone who had a mic on xbox live but would it hold up to the standards placed for it? My answer is yes! The gameplay is pretty cool as you play as either Chris Redfield (Player 1) or Sheva Alemar (Player 2) of the BSAA as they set out on a mission to stop some terrorists that are believed to be in poss...

Resident Evil 5 Review 0

Resident Evil 5 is the second Resident Evil game I've played. The first being Resident Evil 4. This is more due to my sheltered childhood then personal choice. I'm going to review RE5 as a standalone game and as sequel to RE4 since they are very similar games and share a common theme and universe.Resident Evil 5 is less of a survival horror game and more of an action game where you continue the story of Chris Redfield fighting Albert Wesker. This time you have an AI partner named Sheva Alomar (a...

Despite feeling somewhat dated, RE5 is fun and highly re-playable 0

In 2005, Resident Evil 4 was released for the Nintendo Gamecube. Taking the series in an entirely new direction, it introduced concepts that have provided the groundwork for many of today's highest grossing games. Now, 4 years later, Resident Evil 5 has arrived. Despite a somewhat dated control scheme and some derivative enemies, RE5 is worth playing, if only to experience the beautifully crafted boss battles and technically stunning graphics. Graphics: Resident Evil 5 is the best looking game ...

Resident Evil 5, A worthy successor to the previous masterpiece? 0

Resident Evil 4 was a ground-breaking entry in the series which revolutionized the game play and style of the experience. Resident Evil 5 however is a much less innovative game which keeps almost all of the changes introduced with 4 and adds very little of its own.In my opinion this is no bad thing as Resident Evil 4 was a spectacular game which was extraordinarily fun. Unfortunately being so close to its predecessor it is impossible not to compare the two games and Resident Evil 5 ultimately ha...

Minor changes with a fresh coat of paint. 0

When playing Resident Evil 5 you wouldn't be alone if you thought to yourself that many elements were identical to Resident Evil 4. The way the controls handle, a lot of the gameplay mechanics, and a lot of the enemy animations mirror exactly what was found in Resident Evil 4. Considering that there was a four to five year gap between the two titles I can't help but frown upon the developers for this. Still, I had a lot of fun with this game and if you're a fan of the series you will have fun as...

Re Five: my thoughts 0

I just finished Resident Evil: 5 for the… 5th? maybe 6th? time. Why do I keep playing this game so much? I have no idea. It all started when my older brother rented it from blockbuster in 2009. He forgot to return it for a long time, thus was charged with the full price of the game. From that point, we decided to make the best of it, and play the mercenary modes, unlock the unlockables, play on harder difficulties, do the Extra downloadable missions, and so on. In between our cooperative playing...

Even with its obvious shortcomings, RE5 is easy to recommend. 0

In the earliest portion of 2005, Capcom dropped a bomb with the release of Resident Evil 4, breathing new life into a franchise mired in tradition and antiquated mechanics.   While impressing critics, fans and naysayers alike, the game also did something much more important by redefining the third-person shooter. To even begin to hope that Resident Evil 5 – the latest installment in the long-running blockbuster franchise – could even begin to live up to the hype surrounding its release is simpl...

It’s easy to crap on, but Capcom delivers another masterpiece 0

A little over four years ago, Capcom revitalized its flagship franchise. They threw away the pre-rendered backrounds and slow pacing of the original Resident Evil titles, bringing the zombie franchise into modern day. Resident Evil 4 released on the Gamecube and rewrote the rules on third-person action. I for one, consider Resident Evil 4 one of the best games of last generation, I also believe if it wasn't for the game's innovations, games like Gears of War wouldn't exist in their current fo...

A great title that worth your money despite its shortcomings 0

Resident Evil5 manages to execute the already well executed format of the series in a different way  and refreshes the experience by adding new elements and aspects . The good : Stunning visuals , extremely amusing and varied gameplay , fabulous pacing and momentum  , remarkable voice acting, engaging story , deep puzzles  .    The bad : Inventory menu , devoid of fear . First of all let me initiate this review by stating that Resident evil 5 is a tremendously wonderful title , those of you who...

Resident Evil 5 - Review 0

After playing that dreadful RE5 demo that was released a few months back, I wasn't expecting too much going into RE5. Well to my delight, that demo really isn't an indication of what RE5 is like, yes that part of the game is still a pain in the ass but the game is so much more.RE5 is not a survival horror game which may disappoint some fans of previous RE games. It is an action/adventure/shooter that hits on many targets.Visually you will struggle to find a better looking game out there with som...

Short but certainly sweet! 0

Resident Evil 4 is probably one of the most celebrated Resident Evil games to date, let alone one of the best 'last-gen' games I remember. So when Resident Evil 5 arrived, there were some rather big boots to fill. I had some concerns as to how Capcom were going to wrap up the story. The big question is if this popular franchise can really cope going next gen. Silent Hill Homecoming has not done so well and we have yet to see another Project Zero or Parasite Eve in the UK.I am a huge fan of the s...

Disappointing. 0

I'm pretty disappointed with Resident Evil 5 overall, but by far my biggest complaint is the inventory system. Nine slots per character is not nearly enough. Carrying two weapons, with ammo, is already using up almost half your space. Pick up some grenades and  healing items, and you wind up running out of room constantly. Therefore you wind up leaving stuff in your magic, traveling inventory space, which you access by... Restarting the game from your last checkpoint? It destroys the flow of the...

One of the best Resident Evil games I've played in years. 0

I stood in line at midnight just to get this game and there were a lot of other people at also did as well and that should tell you that Resident Evil 5 is one of the biggest games of this year and it's with good reason as well. This is simply one of the best Resident Evils I've played since Resident Evil 4 came out on the Gamecube in 2005. The game takes place in 2009 and it's been 11 years since the first Resident Evil and this time we take control of the game's first protagonist Chris Redfiel...

A big disappointment 0

Being a big fan of Resident Evil 4, I approached RE5 with caution. And the result, quite a big letdown. Yes, the game delivers on graphics, sounds and cinematics, they are all extrordinary, everything has top notch Hollywood production values. But what the game delivers on presentation, it misses on gameplay. RE4 worked because in essence it was a corridor shooter. It worked because of the limitations of the older generation of consoles that couldn't surround you with enemies. So although the co...

Resident Evil 5: Redfield’s Muscles Unleashed. 0

Now I’m a fan of Resident evil games, I’ve always found the combination of survival horror and strategic action a refreshing and somewhat complex combat system, that really earned this series the bragging rights, that Capcom flaunt on an almost constant basis. The series was really brought forward in the last few years, making the big switch from zombies, to people infected with an over-sized stomach worm controlling their brains, making them into savage, blood-thirsty killers. While this was a re...

One of the worst game I have played in this generation 0

This game looks like it was designed by a marketing department and not by an actual designer, which makes it a very disappointing and not fun experience. Let me elaborate on that. The story has holes big enough to pass a truck through them. For example, Sheva welcomes Chris and refer to the zombies as "her people", but didn't she notice any strange behavior before the game started? Right at the beginning of the game there is group of strange looking men beating to death what seems to be an animal...

An Enjoyable Experience, With Or Without The Buddy System 0

Horror fans have come to love the Resident Evil series over the years for its excessive use of gore, pants-pissing surprises, and wacky storylines.   The original Resident Evil titles were famous for providing terrifying moments that'd give an adult gamer nightmares, but changes were in store for the fourth installment.   Resident Evil 4 for Gamecube took the series in a new direction by doing away with the tank controls that plagued the first few games.   Capcom left most of the horror-filled g...

I was really looking forward to this game and playing some more co-op with one of my friends. I enjoyed Resident Evil 1 and 2 back in the day and thought this would be a good one to jump back into the series. I think playing this co-op is how you would get the most fun out of it. From what I have heard the ai of the Sheeva is a little off and you have to baby sit her a little to much. Anyway, I think we played it about a hour before my friend gave up in frustration. He was used to shooters like ...

While resident evil 5 is a great game is one of the best resident evil games i have played in a long time not saying it has some short comings.Like the AI of your partner sheva she is as dumb as a tree she just stands there and gets hurt by the enemies and then asks for ammo when she uses all of hers it is recommened to play coop when you can actually connect with a human player but most of the time you can't or that player won't grant you to play with them and that is another proble resident ev...

This is what  think, a really really great action game very intense. Which is a key factor to a game, ex.( like what the fuck  whats going on man help ahahhaha shit noooo.. Like you don't know what going on and you are shooting everywhere that's what i love in a game. The only bad thing about it, it was lacking character style, not really a story in my mind, because thats what i look in game aswell. The story was ok, my favourite character would have to be Leon. But as I said action is great gore...

Remember the amazement you got from Resident Evil 4 back in the day? Yeah, me too and what you're getting withResident Evil 5 is the same game with a few improvements with less of the wow factor.   The latest addition to the franchise sees you control Chris Redfield, former S.T.A.R.S and now member of the BSAA(Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance) in an attempt to prevent bio-terrorism. This leads Chris to Africa wherehe is partnered with Sheva Alomar, a member of the African division of th...

Great if You Bring a Friend 0

Resident Evil 5 is a radical departure from any previous games you may have played in the franchise's history. Capcom incorporated a few new game play mechanics this time around; chief among them is a new co-operative mode which is integral throughout the entire game. The A.I. partner is fairly competent if you must play with it, however, nothing can truly replace another human player. And it is this sole dependence that RE5 puts all of its eggs in one basket. What I recommend to anyone interest...

"Resident Evil 5" - A Good, Though Dated Experience 0

(This review is originally from www.montyboggs.com)          After the critical success that “Resident Evil 4” was in 2005, people have been clamoring for Capcom to make the next game in the series. “Resident Evil 4” surprised fans by changing the direction of the series and third-person shooters in general with the brand new “over-the-shoulder” point of view. Four years have passed and Capcom has finally released the game’s follow-up, “Resident Evil 5.”     “Resident Evil 5” continues with...
