Which would you like more? I love Person but I want SMT 4 more.
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4
Game » consists of 5 releases. Released Jul 10, 2008
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 is a role-playing game developed and published by Atlus for the PlayStation 2. It is chronologically the fifth installment in the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series. Like its predecessor, its gameplay combines a traditional role-playing game with elements of a social simulation. Its critical and commercial success spawned a sizable media empire, including several spinoff titles.
SMT 4 or P5?
A Shin Megami Tensei game was announced for the PS3 way back in 2005, before the console even launched. Maybe we'll get some info at this year's TGS (which I'll be going to). Atlus gave us Persona 3, P3: FES and P4 after releasing SMT3. I want to see a fourth entry soon.
My vote goes to Persona 5. With the likable characters and stories with weight the Persona series is a favorite of mine.
I also just beat Persona 3! Now its time for The Answer...
" So do you have to know the story of the previous Shin Megami Tensei games to understand what's going on in Nocturne? Would SMT 4 be a direct sequel, story-wise, to Nocturne? "I've justed started playing Nocturne recently, but from what I've read playing SMT I & II isn't necessary. And I doubt 4 would be a direct continuation of Nocturne.

That's good. I'd go and buy Nocturne then but it's pretty expensive online.

" Oh c'mon we all know everyone would rather see Devil Summoner: Raidou 3 instead. tehehe. "That game desperately needs voice acting and an Assassin's Creed style crowd interaction.
The combat in DS 2 on the other hand is actually pretty good once you get the hang of it.
Persona 5. Couldn't care less about any other SMT game.
Also, failed chance at a poll always makes me sad!
i would like either one a lot but as long as its a ps3 title idc if its also on 360 but i want it on ps3. also i dont want them to be ds titles but they very well could be..
SMT 4 goddamit by a million billion lightyears.
As for Stranger Journey? It can kiss my ass, I hope to god it's not the official SMT 4, nothing against it it's probably gonna be fantastic, but I despise handheld RPGs, I never get around to finishing them and I much prefer a bigger screen.
But yeah. I want SMT 4, Persona 3, FES and 4 were all fantastic games, but imo pale in comparison to SMT III and the earlier Persona games.
Edit:
And yes, playing 1 2 and 3 would not be necessary, they are like Final Fantasy games they encompass many of the same themes but are totally unrelated.
Nocturne on ps2 is very moody and dark; I would love to see what they can do with SMT4 on current-gen hardware. Voice acting this time, please.
I would also looove persona 5, but it feels like that series should maybe step out of the spotlight for a bit. Use the time to overhaul the s link system.
Now, I never held much love for the main MegaTen games, though I am playing Nocturne at the moment to fill the hole left by no more Persona. I think it's just that I have become the gamer that doesn't really like games. What I mean by this, is that I enjoy the interactive storytelling a game can give me, but a lot of the time i can't hold the patience for actual gameplay. Shooters will mostly just bore me after a few minutes, the Max Payne games being one of the few exceptions, and when it comes to Zelda, I am more interested in what happens in the outside world than in the dungeons. God, I hate dungeons. Sometimes there are games with gameplay strong enough to entice me to continue, like Disgaea, which I am currently playing on the DS, and Nocturne, which is certainly fun to play, and plays around with some truly dark and depressing themes. It also speaks to my enormous interest in ancient mythology and such. However, in the Persona games, especially P4, the story takes precedence over gameplay in a way that i really, really enjoy, Recently, i have also become more interested in visual novels, from the barely player controlled ones like the Type-Moon games, to the more interactive ones like the Ace Attorney series(Yes, i consider these to be visual novels.)
What I guess I am saying, is that I want the gameplay to carry the story, rather than the story carrying the gameplay. I am sorry for the ranting, i just needed to get this off my chest, as i having been going through somewhat of an identity crisis when it comes to what i actually enjoy about my own interests.
This is almost exactly how i feel. One of the exceptions being that i enjoy the dungeons in Zelda games :P....that is when i've made progress in them and feel a sense of accomplishment after solving a particularly tricky puzzle. But yeah, i enjoy it when story takes precedence over gameplay. It's what i love about Persona 4. It's also why i dislike MMOs. I didn't used to be like this...but i suppose i've always felt like this deep down and only recently am i realising it!
Btw, i'm thinking of getting Nocturne. Recommended then?

I did a quick search on Ebay and man... I'm not sure if anyone should get that game for 50$ now. Not that I'm saying it's bad, it's just that it's a PS2 game that was released over 4 years ago.
I would love to see a new SMT with all the advancements that the series has made through the Persona titles. I don't mean social links or anything, but lots of voice work, anime cut scenes, and easier menus to navigate. Not to sound too much like a rube, but I got lost in Nocturne sometimes.
Well, since Strange Journey is basically SMT4, I would like to know more about Persona 5. So I would have to say Persona 5.
" @IntramanDW said:maybe but the random chance of meeting one of the housemen in a dongen really took me out of the game" Oh c'mon we all know everyone would rather see Devil Summoner: Raidou 3 instead. tehehe.
