Quick Look: Crazy Taxi

I can't imagine playing this without a wheel. The steering is way too twitchy.

I remember playing crazy taxi with the fishing rod from saga bass fishing.. now THAT was CRRAAAAAZY!!!

as a dreamcast fanboy I must say -- jeff sucks at this game

This QL ruined my nostalgia for Crazy Taxi.

Wow, as much as Offspring became soul-crushing in the original, it feels wrong without it.  No more KFC, Pizza Hut and Tower Records either?  Fuck this game, I'm sticking with the Dreamcast version.

But if they put out Smashing Drive, the far superior taxi-based arcade game, out on XBLA, I'd buy it instantaneously. 
 
(It probably doesn't hold up as well as I remember it being in the arcades.)

I see that Jeff is still awful at "crazy dashing." No wonder he never gets through more than 2 or 3 people in Arcade.
 
All those times in the Quick Look where he is driving around town at a snail's pace, he should be boosting instead.

No licensed stuff = half the reason to buy it gone. Especially Offspring. 

why do they always bash the game in a way that makes it sound like they never liked the game back then , i know this isnt the case , hell they even say so at the end BUT throughout they make the game sound like its terrible now and always was.

No original soundtrack, no purchase! And this is probably one I don't mind the named product placement. It was great back at the arcade and the Dreamcast, this is a bad port.

This looks a lot worse graphically than the PC version

I liked it and I played it a couple of months ago and think it's still decent in 10 min sessions, I could never beat the box mode, oh and the break then accelerate thing was weird I could never do it right and fail the jumping.

I'll stick with my Dreamcast version. :D

Some Offspring was...All I Want'd in this game.

Good to know for people who hate in game advertising - eventually (years and years later, sure) a version will come out that strips it out.

This was fun on the PS2. And the soundtrack on that was better than this pile of crap.

Wait.. so there's no Offspring, no KFC, no Pizza Hut, no Levi's and no Tower Records?  Unless they changed it so that now your fares tell you all about them in some crazy Days of Our Lives moment, no thank you sir!

No Pizza Hut, KFC or Levi's? Fuck this game.

No adds and no offspring really makes this not feel like crazy taxi at all.

I do agree with Brad that N64 and PS1 games today are kind of hard to play through now because of how they look, and I agree that the PS2 era of consoles (which the Dreamcast is a part of) is when things started to "look good", the Dreamcast should not be grouped with the N64 and PS1. Shenmue, the Capcom fighters (Project Justice, etc), Dead or Alive 2, Sega Sports games, and others look just as good as anything on PS2 save maybe Resident Evil 4 (which probably could've been done for the Dreamcast if optimized), and "hold up" to this day as far as "looking good".

 
I suppose Brad only said "some Dreamcast games", and I'm sure he remembers what he said during the tennis DC quick look throwback as far as graphics go, but it bugs me when people group Dreamcast with the wrong gen of consoles.

As much as I hated hearing the same 3 Offspring songs over and over again, the game just doesn't feel the same without it.

Yeah I remember this game, played it on the arcade and at my friend who had the budget Gamecube port...it seemed past it's prime then, is all I'm saying about this one.

Second Crazy Taxi QL in a year! What is going on? 
 
Actually, technically the other one was more than a year ago. BUT THIS IS STILL NUTS.

The pop punk, the advertising, the art style, the gameplay. I pretty much hated everything about Crazy Taxi.

I was never a fan of crazy Taxi. Mainly cus I am awful at it and never had the want to get better at it.
 
That being said, the graphics have nothing to do with why I wont get the game haha. It appeals to some people and others it does not. I don't mind the graphics and actually they do look a little better in this than in their dreamcast counter part (which you can see in Giantbomb's Quick Look Flashback a little over a year ago).
 
It's never really been a game that appealed to me, though. That's all I really think about that. =)

I never saw the appeal of this game.

I played way too much crazy taxi on Dreamcast. I don't know if I can ever go back to that place again. 

This game blows. It  blew then, and it's blows now.

Great arcade game. Terrible console game.
