Quick Look: Disney Epic Mickey

My guess is the levels covered in this QL are tutorial levels to give you a chance to test the waters a bit and learn the controls (especially useful for younger audiences - which this seems to be geared towards)
 
This game looks awesome, the animation looks great (especially the cut scenes) and the mechanics look sound. It does seem fairly linear and pretty simple to figure out. Cut scenes, while fairly heavy in the beginning, make sense if they are semi-tutorial related and hopefully fade throughout the progression of the game. 
 
I'm mainly excited to see what they do with all the footage and characters they pulled from the Disney archives. This would be one big reason why i will end up picking this up eventually.

This Quick Look Made me sleepy but the game looks pritty cool.

Can't really tell what this game is going be like just from this QL.  Felt like we barely scratched the surface in this so far.

This game reminds me of Alice for some reason.

Looks about as good as I thought it would be.  Wasn't particularly impressed with it at E3.  Didn't quite understand why everyone was so wowed by it during the conference.

Absolutely, positively, I cannot be the first person to throw this name out there, but if not: OkaMickey!

This game looks really boring. I don't know why it's getting so much attention.

Cause, you know, like Okami + Mickey. Like, paint brushes and stuff...  That is the joke.

The game's out in Europe today. The camera this game has was unacceptable even before Spector's LAST game was released, and the gameplay is so limited and boring. This game is, beyond the shadow of a doubt, nowhere close to, say, a Mario game.  
 
God, I hope he goes back to making good games sometime. 

Looks really interesting, but I'm somehow unimpressed. Wondering how it will do at retail.

I'm fond of how this looks. 
 
Maybe I'll add this to my pile of great Wii games I play once or twice, really enjoy, and forget about when there's a new 360 or PC game to play.

Ever since my nephew was born I have been exposed to way more MIckey Mouse that a 26 year old should be.

I think that this is the longest time there has been no talking in a quick look ever.  I thought this was just a gameplay video or trailer.

Wish they would've shown the later stages instead. People crying about it already sucking, imagine if you had to base a game on a tutorial.

Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusions on the Master System was one of my favorite games as a kid. And Magic Quest or whatever it was called on the SNES was a good game as well so he's got quite a good track record.

For some reason I just kept thinking of American McGee's Alice throughout the QL... Sadly, this one made me sleepy.
The animated cutscenes are great though!

Quick Looks for longer games should always be done after the tutorial levels. This isn't really interesting and makes the game look more simple than it most likely is.

The art design reminds me a lot of Kingdom Hearts, but the platforming looks half-assed, and the charm just isn't their.

Looks tedious, shallow and outdated.

I love the animated scenes, but that's about it. Mickey isn't one of my favorite characters though.

At the very least it seems to have great music.

Though the game has some unique gameplay elements and a great artstyle, it looks mind-numbingly  boring.
 
And this is come from an avid rpg/strategy game fan.

Wow, a giant budget and they couldn't even get any damn voice acting? I'm sorry but a big budget narrative driven game based on Disney lore without any voice talent (asides from the narrator) is in-fucking-excusable.

A bunch of Disney themed worlds in an open 3D world with an emphasis on a meta media narrative. Observable by someone who has never even played a Kingdom Hearts game. "

Releasing a narrative focused game like this with no voice acting in the year 2010 is absolutely ridiculous. 

Can't wait to see how great this looks running in Dolphin.

Once again, a game for which the QL would be a lot better if it was done later in the game.  I've got a pile of Kmart coupons ready for it, regardless.

Mechanically, this kind of just seems like a fairly middling N64 era platformer. Really digging the style and aesthetic though.
