Quick Look: Red Steel 2

I didn't expect it, but this looks really good!

The new Wii Motion Plus controls for this game look fun, but I wish this was a true sequel to the first game instead of a completely different story. Don't those guys know they just need to wait for that door to open lol?

the graphics are nothing like in the commercial. they're freaking photo realistic in the commercial. i knew it was too good to be true. horrifically falsly advertising.

Looks a lot better than the first game. Although it's still weird that you're totally stabbing dudes up and there's no blood.

This is entirely worth it just for the bizarre instructional pop-ups with the woman alone.

Looks like a great game... that' will be ported to the PS3 eventually. Not sure about 360 since Natal doesn't have any buttons. :P

Picked this up on release day and have been very, very happy with it so far. I put some impressions up over at erraticgamer.com if anybody wants to read them, but the short version is, they basically made Red Steel 2 into what we all hoped Red Steel 1 would be when we first saw ads for that in 2006.  It plays the way you would think it should play. You swordfight, and you shoot guys, and it's pretty great.

Still no blood? How is the steel red?

YES, you can take the sword out at any time and just look at it and move it around. And go into defense mode. 
Why do they never check out the controls and then talk nonsense about them, especially in Wii quicklooks? ffs.

Seems kinda cool. I like the look of it, but the movement is horrible.

The contrivances for Loading Doors are the best I've seen since Resident Evil. Which is to say "holy hell that's takin' forfuckingever."

I gotta say, I'm honestly pretty impressed. The aesthetic direction is strong and exciting, even if the character models leave something to be desired. I didn't notice anything overtly lacking from a first glance, though I'm sure there's plenty to nitpick. That's the beauty of strong art. I'm curious to know if it can keep up the pacing for a decent length of time and whether or not it opens up a little more for exploration.

Did Ryan say Final Fantasy TEN? Or Final Fantasy TET? Couldn't understand what he was saying and I was trying to think of a guy from FFX that look liked that and couldn't. Thought it might be a FFXIII reference but haven't played it ye.

I bought this game the other day...I have to say, it's a pretty great game. Much better than the first one.
