@Griffinmills: I think I read somewhere that it's more of a southern-American thing, although I still think it's weird, it's not a silent 'h', it's just there. I always found it weird, thought i'd just mention it.

@LiquidPrince: Two hours sounds pretty early on in a game with three close-to-full-sized campaigns. I'm not trying to make excuses for Brad here, but remember that it's not just him with this opinion. It's a lot of people. I think it's cool that you picked up the game to form your own opinion on it though; by the looks of things, I might be doing the same thing with Dead Space 3.

Does this game have a Mercenaries mode? If so, I will play this game someday.

I don't care HOW bad people say it is, I put eighty goddamn hours into RE5's mercenaries mode and if I can do sick uppercuts on people, I will have to play this game at some point.

Agreed. Syndicate had its problems but it played extremely well and the co-op was great stuff.

It's hysterical because you bought the game and refuse to admit that it isn't very good.

Whether someone enjoys a game or not isn't for someone else to decide. You're basically saying there is one universally correct way to view a game.. that's bullshit.

Your right that is a good point I did not intend to mean that there is only one way to view a game. Everyone has different impressions. But to me the core mehanics of a game being good or bad isn't really opinion based. If something doesn't work as well as it should I think that isn't an opinion.

A lot of people didn't like tank controls and cinematic camera angles. I thought they were great and worked as they should. Eye of the beholder.

You know... I actually kind of hated the co-op. It's not linearly organized in any way, so I could never remember which ones I'd already done. It adds nothing to the story (I was hoping for an actual campaign). Every fight with other agents devolved into "who can steal the microchip upgrade thing first," and sometimes you'd just end up with dudes who had no idea how to play the game. When I say that "that game was fun," I'm pretty much exclusively referring to the single-player, which I really enjoyed (except for that final boss fight which was chock full of bullshit). It was flawed, but it was so fun if you played aggressively and used your powers as often as you could.

But now I'm curious... How'd your co-op experience go? I'd imagine it'd be way, way better with people you know.

@whatisdelicious: I played on the PC which is now a ghost town for games but when the game was active people worked well together. The game forces interdependency, so people eventually learned that progress could actually be made if everyone was healing each other. The chip thing was a non-issue, sure you got some extra XP for grabbing it but everyone got some sort of bonus. Regarding the organisation, I didn't really care. I enjoyed playing the levels over again and they were much more strategic and methodical than the single-player was.

Honestly, if that game had come out on Steam with mod-support and DLC then it would have actually developed a lasting community. Once I got a feel for the flow of the co-op, it was the closest thing to a L4D-style experience I'd played in years.

@adam1808: Hm, I guess that's the difference between the PC community and the PS3 community (at least when the game launched). Maybe people were still getting the hang of it. I burned through most of the single-player in one or two sessions, so I probably was hopping into co-op with more experience that most. You really do need to work together. Some of the fights against like 4 enemy agents at once were impossible without a well-coordinated team. But grabbing for chips was definitely a problem for me. It was always a scramble to get to it first, and people would go for it even if it was in the line of enemy fire because they knew we'd just revive them afterward.

I'd really like a sequel to that game with a dedicated co-op campaign instead of just disconnected levels, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I don't remember it doing all that well.

Now I need to wash Brad's negativity out of my ears, I'm off to play some Resident Evil 6, which has its issues but has some of the best mechanics I've seen in a 3rd person shooter. It's sad, not everyone can see that, or it just doesn't gel with them. I'd rather play this over Gears of War any day. Each to their own I guess.

Everything else about what they're saying is conveyed easily in the video, and the game looks like a well-polished turd, but I didn't really see where the frame rate was that terrible. Maybe it's the video, but it looked no rougher than your average MT Framework game.

No Patrick...No..holding the trigger, releasing one then holding it again..is what your SUPPOSED to do, not forcing the game to do. Its supposed to simulate climbing. This is a problem I usually have with GB, they dont understand the controls and then put it against the game itself.

Well, to be fair, it's very likely they just missed it because of how horrible the instruction is. Let's be honest, though, it should just let you climb the bloody thing by hitting the action button. What is this, a fuckin' Wii game?

I guess it's one of the things they had to do to keep the framerate vaguely tolerable.

Wow, the bullets provide absolutely ZERO impact when they strike their target. Overall, the game doesn't look that bad, but the lack of feedback seems annoying.

Well fellas, I usually revere GB as the best gaming review website, but this QL and the review are unfounded. Jake's campaign is probably the worst first level to QL. Jake's campaign opens with a lot of rockets and helicopter fire that is pretty much bullshit, however, the game gets better as it continues. Yes, it's frustrating, but, the game gets much more fluid as it goes on. Jake's first level kind of sucks, but the game get a lot better as it goes on.

After playing all three main campaigns, the game is somewhat a subset of the RE franchise. I'll break it down like this:

Jake's campaign: Set pieces, lots of running, reminiscent of RE3 with the Nemesis. (This time named the Ustanak)

Leon's campaign: More like the older REs. Solo and somewhat scary.

Chris's campagin: Shoot'Em'Up, for the most part.

This game is RE5+. If you liked RE5 you'll probably like this too.

It very much sounds and looks to me like this game was hodgepodged from bits and pieces of RE ideas that never made it into the first 5. As the guys say, its not really the story thats the problem...but when a game is fundamentally and mechanically broken, no matter how good the story is, its a bad game. If you LOVE Resident Evil...and you need every last piece of RE Canon you can find, you will love this game undoubtedly. If you are not a fan of RE, such as myself, this game is a pass quite clearly.

I love all Resident Evil games! I'm an awesome big fan of them! I got all of them day one... this one... after hearing all the bad stuff(and passing on spoilers) I passed on it... but I "had" to get them all...so I just got this game. Six hours in so far... "Kill me".

I hope you all feel bad for me. That... and God help my soul.

It's not actually that bad, I would argue for $60 it's pretty bad but I picked it up for $20 and like it a lot and that was going in thinking it was going to be awful because of the shift to action. I love the stupid action crap throughout the game and I like the intersecting storylines. There are a lot of issues mainly that its such a huge push in the action shooter direction yet you get almost no ammo half the time, almost as if they couldn't decide if they wanted to do a shooter or a survival horror. The other stuff is the horrible quick times, mainly the stick stuff and the context actions across the board are janky. There is also the age old Capcom issue of putting all the emphasis on the character's animations getting in the way of fluid gameplay and often making you take more damage or dying than if they wouldn't do this, Lost Planet 2 suffered even worse from this. Overall I would give it 4 stars. Think Capcom really needs to sit back and think about what they are doing with their franchises.
