Quick Look: Shift 2: Unleashed

Cars look ok though I think I'll stick with the racing franchises that are dedicated sim or arcade. Ending of the QL reminds me of when I was playing Forza2 & got bored so started either blocking the racetrack with my car or going the wrong way on the track & pressing the ramming speed button to start hitting the other AI drones.

The drift race they did reminds me that I hate drifters and drift events in real life.

i turned the sound up really high cuz i couldn't hear the talking. and then jeff and ryan started talking.

I guess they didn't think they needed a better engine texture because no one would play with engine view because they knocked the whole front of the car off.

They almost hit the D dimesion.

That helmet view is a neat idea, but I hate it.
 
I really like the upper left showing who's closest behind you and how far they are from you. That's neat.

Is it the video or does this game has some really annoying frame-rate issues?  Especially in the corners it looks really sluggish. Definitely doesn't look like 60fps, more somewhere between 25 en 30 fps. But maybe it's caused by the video frame-rate. not sure.

Now that is how you make a fucking main menu in 2011.  I don't know what's happening in between footage of the main menu, but that mofo is shit hot.

What is it with NFS and 30 Seconds to Mars lately? I mean, I don't mind, I like 30STM... but Hot Pursuit's main menu music was Edge of the Earth and this menu had a remix of Night of the Hunter.

I still think a middle ground between Hot Pursuit and Shift is the way to go. Basically, a game with Hot Pursuit's aesthetics (interstates and consumer-grade exotic cars) but with Shift's crazy cockpit effects. Shift has a really good sense of being in a car, with the way the camera rattles around and they apply different visual filters for impacts and whatnot.

Yeah, I'll just stay loyal to my one franchise Forza.

Seems like a really good game to me; I'd say the criticism in the comments due to it being not mainstream are unfair.

the question is: does it play a unskippable commercial of a future EA racing game the first time you start the game?

The first Shift was kind of neat, but the rubber banding AI drove me insane and actually ruined the game for me; hope this is better.

I've always loved NFS . If only they would put drifting like Grid's . I don't know if they did or not because the damn video wouldn't load 

might be something i'll try on the PC, since we don't get Forza or Gran Turismo.

Is it just me or did this game come out of nowhere? I heard absolutely nothing about this game during the days leading up to its release.

Shift is a great series for those that like "Arcade-Sim"  racing. Forza is also good as well though.
