Quick Look: Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed

Finally! A quick look. Played this game a bunch last week it's super sweet and easily worth the 40 bucks if you like racers and/or Sega. In my opinion it's a better example of how to do this type of franchise game than PS All-Stars.

But what platform to get it on? I was considering waiting for the VIta version, but I've got all the consoles as well - minus Wii U.

yep, I noticed it on this one and the Planetside 2 Ql. Only about a second or two off but it's definitely there.

I appreciate you guys still taking the time to Quick Look this even two weeks after it's released.

And yeah, the game's pretty awesome. Also note that this game is $40, not 60.

360 has an extra character in the form of your Xbox Live Avatar (who is actually really good) whereas PS3 doesn't have any extra characters. Other than that I think they're basically identical.

I've been playing this game since the Wii U launched, and it's my favorite game on the console so far, despite the game-breaking bugs in that version.

Sega sent out the patch over to NoA almost two weeks ago but as of last night they still haven't released it to the public. Meanwhile, Europeans got the patch on day one and we're still waiting! WTF NoA!? What you waitin' on?

Having been disappointed by LittleBigPlanet Karting, this looks pretty good. I might have to check this out, the first one was pretty decent.

Call of Sonic: Modern Kart Racing Trans4rmed

Reminds me of Diddy Kong Racing somewhat, with all the planes and boats involved. Certainly seems like a competent one of these games.

This game actually looks not terrible. I might pick this up.

The audio is off in this video. Game looks pretty fun though. Is this downloadable?

Looks alright. Makes me want to play Diddy Kong Racing more than anything, but the levels look neat.

Man, I'm glad some commenters brought up Diddy Kong Racing. It was starting to become the elephant genie in the room.

Sega's really been going all out on the nostalgia trips of late. I'm hoping this leads to a new Segagaga with an English localization.

@Mento: Diddy Kong racing was actually a good game though, with the boosts and single player.

I personally think this game is a blast.

Needs more Phantasy Star representation. Otherwise kind of cool.

Sadly Vinny never figured out that you have to push x again before the hot rod power up blows up. He could have scored the Chao twice!

I'm thinking about picking this up on the Wii U. I know I'm going to have people over who'll want to play a Kart racer on a Nintendo system. Is it worth buying this game, then, since when Mario Kart comes out, none of my friends want to touch this one, even if it ends up being better than the next Mario Kart?

Is it just me or is the audion about a half-second ahead of the video?

Did they mention that this game is only $40.

The game gets worse around the same times the games got worse (once you hit the Sonic 2006 level), so I appreciated the attention to detail.

With the exceptions of the last world, the later levels of Sonic Generations were the best ones. The early ones are pretty lame by comparison.

Haven't watched the full Quick Look, yet, but I own the game. The first one was absolutely great, but Transformed disappointed me a lot. Is it just me or is this one harder than the first one? Even on "Medium" I am having my difficulties...

The Wii U version had a patch issued out that broke a lot of things about the game. Certain challenges cannot be completed because they don't load or function correctly. This includes the Boost Challenges, and some traffic attack stages. Neither of the Wii U exclusive game modes work right either, since the objective is to run away from the player on the Game Pad, but as soon as the level loads in, it spawns everyone in the same spot, ending the match.

Europe got the patch to fix the old patch, and supposedly the US one comes out sometime today.

I wish the roster wasn't so padded with Sonic characters, but otherwise this is a really fun game, and $40 new!

Games good but the boost challenge levels are impossible. Either that or bugged. I read that the checkpoints dont show up in the boost levels...basiclaly making them impossible. Which would make sense because I can't beat the first one.

This game is really good, and it's only $40 too. Definite recommendation if you enjoy earlier Mario Kart games but thought the last two have been pretty lackluster.

That afterburner music is giving me a real Day of the Dead vibe

I have a completely irrational hatred towards everything Sonic.

Was never a massive fan of these games outside of Mario Kart but this game looks like a lot of fun.
