Super disappointing that Spidey's webs don't have to connect to buildings when he swings. Looks like the PS2 game is still the reigning champ!

Spider-man looks super, super dumb in this game. His run animation is horrendous, and he just generally seems stiff and boring. BLahh..

Spiderman 2 kthx. Forever.

They don't look that bad. Also who did come up with the rule of three? I'm actually curious. At least whenever I hear it, it's always like Miyamoto's Rule of Three or Nintendo Rule of Three.

Not seeing where your web attatches bothers me to the point of killing any interest in playing this game. Too bad :(

also yeah that run animation is terrible, and zero fall damage at all?

Looks to be a cross between Arkham and Prototype 2. I think I'll stick to Arkham and Prototype 2.

You know that Dodge crap has always been a Spiderman trademark. Arkham's combat is just button mashing. This is no different. The two differ on much different levels, graphics, game mechanics, and that detective stuff....yep its Spider-man.

They don't look that bad. Also who did come up with the rule of three? I'm actually curious. At least whenever I hear it, it's always like Miyamoto's Rule of Three or Nintendo Rule of Three.

I remember reading about it some time ago in a psychology class and i must admit that i don't have much intrest in digging up some old books in my room, but a quick search led me to a wikipedia page about the rule of three. Now this does involve the rule of three in writing situations but this thing goes back a long way, as i said, i read about in a psychology class so the rule of three has many roots. Perhaps Miyamoto was the first to implement this idea to games?

I think Miyamoto was the first to put it in games, I could be wrong. But I do know, like you said, that rule of three goes back. Well, thanks for the effort.

I hate every single pixel of Whitney. How does Beenox write her and think she's apropriate for anything, let alone to dictate Spider-Mans actions? He should've webbed her dumb ass and left her hanging. "Take your own damn pictures!!!"

When I think of Spider-Man I think of more open environments and a lot more web slinging. The indoor environments seem so restrictive. Hopefully once the game progresses it's a bit more like Web of Shadows

Huh...seems weird for a game coming out a week before the film to take place AFTER the film itself. I don't really keep up with movie tie-ins, but that seems REALLY unusual.

This game looks like it has some pretty impressive stuff in it, if repetitive.
I've never seriously played a Spider-Man game (since the Genesis) so I might have to pick this up.

so based on what i have seen so far they remade the spiderman 2 game? spiderman 2 had spiderman fighting the rhino and the lizard so why did they bother to repeat the same thing.

I have to say, the way Spidey looks at multiplicitous Spider-men to decide what he wants to do in Bullet Time strikes me as odd. In some abstract way I guess it could loosely refer to that BS about how some spiders "border on precognition." But why does he see that? If there's an explanation for why, that's cool, I appreciate that. It still just makes the environment look cluttered and ugly with these low-detail Spider-Men just gallivanting in freeze-frames. Seriously it takes me right out of it. I can imagine I'm looking at a half-finished game. The way the models repeat in these environments just makes me wonder why they didn't just let me "Copy and Paste" the Spidey model wherever I feel. It saps fun out of an otherwise cool mechanic IMO...

Maybe the intent was to suggest to the player "hey, here's all the things you can do here... pretty cool, huh? Now the rest is up to you..." It just didn't seem like it to me. I see no reason why they couldn't distort the cursor to a stylized Spider, a mask, an asterisk, etc... I dunno.

I'm all for long Quick Looks, but, damn... sitting in the hub for 5 minutes spouting about the canonical references isn't what i come here for. I'll check out ComicVine for that.

And 5 minutes in the menu's isn't showing me gameplay!

Come on, Giant Bomb! Give me what I want!

Gotta admit, game looks not good at all. Spiderman 2 still seems to be the best even today. Spiderman's movements look too sluggish. They tried to make it too Arkham asylum imo. And the web slinging from the clouds just takes out immersion for me.

What was fun about Spiderman was that when you swung from a building you actualy felt like you were swinging. The swinging around obstacles, the velocity picking up, the leaping off buildings building up enough speed to swing around obstacles entirely. THAT was fun, i see none of that here. Here its just.....web slinging gliding as i like to call it.

After having played the game for a few hours I gotta say this QL really gave it the short end of the stick. While it's certainly not up to Batman standards it does a good job at imitating it. It has some blatant shortcomings when it comes to the content, but the mechanics and gameplay systems are actually pretty solid. What was really unfortunate about the QL was that Ryan hadn't figured out that there's a second way of traversing the city (which is less handholdy and looks cooler), where you use quickfire webrush and Spiderman does a lot of dynamic running and jumping off walls and stuff.

I wish they'd give the devs an extra year or so to make these games to try and reach the same level of polish and depth as the Batman games. The open world aspect is great for Spiderman, but it looks pretty bland.

The fact that 100 percent of the game's actions require freezing time, it makes the game about 100 percent less exciting.

The BLOODYSCREENSOREAL really annoyed me when watching this quick look. It seems extremely visible even when taking a small amount of damage, making you spend the large majority of combat having a red frame.

I've never gotten motion sickness from a video game before, either playing or watching, but the constant switching between 1st and 3rd person is kind of making me feel ill.

Meh, a solid enough Spidey game that I'll have to play it.

Why does everyone say Spider-Man 1 or 2 were the best though? Everyone seems to overlook/forget about Ultimate Spider-Man, which in my opinion is hands down the best Spidey game out there.

I'm sorry but this is a movie tie-in game. For a movie tie-in game, this seems really great. This seems X-Men Origins quality. That is, pretty good for a game, really great for a movie game that you are into.

I never knew about this. Always figured it would be crap. But damn... I'm getting it.
