Everything that I've read/seen has gotten me pretty pumped. The last few Spider-Man games were alright, but they got repetitive fast and I feel that the fact they needed to tie into the films was a problem as well. I think that this game could really be great and possibly be a sleeper hit, especially since it's coming out on Oct. 21st (Such a ridiculous Fall lineup this year). I was wondering if anyone else is excited for this game...

Well, i really can't see how Web Of Shadows will turn out to be, since SpiderMan 3 was a huge failure and this is one could be considered as a follower , same developer , its on all consoles and stuff.

You do know that this isn't being developed by the same guys who did Spider-Man 3...

I'm pretty excited about this. I feel like it being a story independant of the movies will make it a lot better plot-wise. Gameplay, I'm hopeful, because this game is not developed by the same people who made Spider Man-3, and hopefully they've seen the massive failure that that team made and don't want to repeat it.

Let us pray for a new engine. 

I am since I'm a huge Spidey fan, I'm just praying for no crazy repetitive gameplay and missions. But I wished they did something more like Ultimate Spider-Man, which IMO is still the best Spidey game out there.

From what i've seen, it looks like expanded Spider-Man 2 gameplay but without hte need to really parallel the films so they have more room to move. I just wish they had got Christopher Daniel Barnes from the Spider-Man cartoon to do Spidey's voice.

Not really, but I hear that it's looking good. I haven't been interested in Spiderman in a long time.

I'm very intersted in this game, yea. At first I was meh about it when I found it that it was another spidey vs symbiote game, but after reading more about it and finding out that the main focus is on combat this time instead of the whole "look you can swing around manhattan!" I'm definitely psyched about it.

I think it's sad that this looks like the first good Spider-Man game in a while, yet it will likely be lost in the crowded day of Oct 21st. Far Cry 2, Fable 2, LBP, Bioshock (PS3)...not to mention you have Dead Space, Saints Row 2 and Socom: Confrontation the week before and plenty more after.

I'm hoping but I don't want to get hopes so high I'm could be very disappointed.

I've learned to never be hopeful for Spiderman games.

i'm just excited that they said it is completely based on the comic. so if it has any tiny crumb of movie reference, i am throwing it into a dumpster

Treyarch developed Spider-Man 3 and they are working on Web Of Shadows too including two other devs."

Well from the trailers it shows Wolverine working with you, but also fighting against you after being taken over with the symbiote. I really think it would have been awesome if he had a huge role in the game and the story had full 2-player co-op. I really love co-op! :)"

The release period really fucks over any chances of me getting it (besides as a gift in December), but the combat looks greatly interesting, and fucking fun :-/

October 21 is unfortunatly the defacto release date for every game this holiday season...

Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Web of Shadows, Fable 2 (for those who for whatever reason care about it,) etc...

I'm going to only be able to get one of these games at launch and wait for the rest for Christmas. I'm thinking I'm going to get Far Cry 2 as my pre-Christmas game. I'm more excited for Fallout 3 but as a jr. in highschool I don't really have time to commit to an RPG. :(

Far Cry 2 still looks bad ass, though! :D

It does suck that so many games are coming out between Oct. 14th and Oct. 29th...I would love to get a shitload of games, but I can't (though I'm still getting a shitload). Web of Shadows should make for a good rent though.

I'm going to wait until Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, and Web of Shadows are all reviewed here before I make my decision. I doubt Web of Shadows will out rank F3 and FC2 but I might as well wait to see. I don't want to make an uninformed purchase.

Well they are all very different games so it's really more about preference when deciding which game to get.

I have a feeling I'm going to like Lego Batman way more then this game at this moment.

I'm one of the most hopeful guys here and I won't be buying it either. As good as I think it looks, I also know that there are other games I'd rather play and a game like this might not have the most replay value.

I agree the trailer looks good...and the visuals for a spiderman game actuually looking good is a new as well, but until some serious gameplay is shown, or more so when it comes out and is reviewed..I'm really not holding hope high just because it is a spiderman game mostly...still I'm sure it will be the best one, even if it does disappoint.

The videos with combat in them have looked good to me and I've heard many comparisons to the combat of God of War...which is a pretty nice comparison.

I'm pretty sure BiggerBomb is being ironical. 

But, yeah, Ultimate Spider-Man was definitely inferior to Spider-Man 2.  The developers nerfed the swinging mechanic a good amount, and the combat just didn't stick.  Plus, once you unlocked Venom as a playable character, there was nothing to do but get shot at.

All this Spidey talk is making me want to pull out my Genesis and play some Maximum Carnage! I loved that game back in the day.

I liked the air combat stuff they talked about and the seamless combo transitions you could make.
Hopefully they stick to their word.

I liked the artistic style of Ultimate Spider-Man.  There's always that."

I'm also really looking forward to this game. I love even the idea of character choices that have an effect on the rest of the game, and the fact that it's a Spiderman game makes me want it that much more.
