Activision has released the first details on the next Tony Hawk game, Tony Hawk Ride. This game will feature a skateboard-style peripheral that you'll stand on to play. Here is said board! I'm not sure what to think about it yet!

I'm not going to diss it until I've tried it, though if I do try it'll be someone elses. My rooms too cluttered with plastic instruments for me to go out and get a plastic skateboard.

Good, all the people that skateboard but want a fake alternative will love this....that's not a lot of people.

Never was a fan of TH and I don't see this changing my mind.

This will either kill off the Tony Hawk series for good or it will be a huge success.

Loved Tony Hawk up until Underground 2. That's when the series lost me. But I'm getting sick of Activision and all these peripherals. There getting almost as bad as Nintendo.

Dude.. wait... what?! How.. huh...? OH! thats right! this is from activision, the company that wants you to buy expensive crap to feel the "immersiveness" of the game! Could it work? I guess...? But would you actually want it? Right now Im at a no but falling off my real skateboard cause I suck really sucks.. I just really wish they took Tony Hawk to a more crazy ass direction with a dumbass story where you have to rescue all the skaters by skating and save the world from lame political officials that "just dont get it bro!" I'd play that.

Yes, I'm certain performing tricks on that will be fun...

I still have a lot fun with the old school play-style of Tony Hawk ,  this is not the answer to bring the franchise back on top. =(

The fun of the old Tony Hawk games was you could have never touched a skateboard in real life and have fun doing crazy inhuman tricks in the game.

I've played on the skateboard inside.  Bad idea.  I wonder how many of these will go through windows, TVs, and little brother's heads...

Tony Hawk has officially become the old man who tries to talk hip to the kids but comes off sounding awkward - and this game is his mid-life crisis.

I'm holding some hope for this. Let's hope the E3 showing will shed some light on how the thing will actually function.

It's odd I was just listening to one of the very first bombcasts (The second one I think (I like noise in the background whilst gaming, and there's no room for my second TV)) and in that they're talking about skate 1 and how Activision and neversoft needed to reply and would they do so with a response game or become innovative, and then I refereshed the home page and this was there =D, crazy.

On topic, terrible. I'd like to see if they try to ship it to wii users or just find a way to incorporate the wiiboard.

Also I liked the super unrealistic Tony Hawks games, I think it was number 2 with the airport, I combo'd a move to 1.5m with no cheats =( I want that kind of game again!

Ah yes, in order to achieve ultra realism you can now break your leg in REAL TIME together with the skater on screen, it's all just a plot for Activision to justify the massive load times of 3-4 months, this is all speculation though...

I know I'll end up buying it... god damn Tony Hawk.

Hazarding a guess: the side-buttons are for when you're forced off the board for stealth missions and driving sequences.

Also, this is stupid, you might as well just pick up the real thing.

Lame. I think people are getting so sick of this large plastic poops, like gh or rb guitars for example, that this game won't do to hot. I'm in the process of moving and am damn near throwing away all my rarely used plastic.

Man. I dunno about this. I might have loved something like this when the first THPS came out on PS1 and I was just getting into skateboarding at age 14. We'll see though.

I'm worried about it, to be honest. This was one of my favorite game franchises. I've seen it crumble over the years, and recently seen Neversoft abandon it completely to focus on milking the Guitar Hero series as much as humanly possible. All of this saddens me greatly. I am uncertain and full of doubt, but for my beloved THPS series, it appears I still have hope.

This just looks awful, I can't think of how this would be fun to use at all. In fact this looks like the opposite of fun.

I'm usually not one to hate on peripherals, considering I really enjoy playing GH, but this just looks dumb. You realize a big reason people play Skateboarding games is because they are not in good enough shape to actually skate, right? Sitting down, holding a controller is the ideal way to play these games.

The board actually looks sleek and stylish but that's about the only thing its got goin for it.

I'm a little skeptical, but it could be interesting. I'll wait until it appears at E3 before I judge it too harshly.

At that point just attach trucks and wheels and you'll actualy be skateboarding.

This is so bewildering. Why not just learn how to skate in real life at this point? How can this thing handle people flipping it around and stomping on it without breaking? Why not take the series in the next logical direction and put Tony Hawk on the moon? So many questions...

Gut reaction though...this is a terrible idea, for a variety of very different reasons.
