E3 2011: Final Fantasy XIII-2 Trailer

Those characters were annoying after a two minute trailer... and the game will probably be 80 hours long

I have washed my hands of Final Fantasy, the series that I once loved, and will never look back.

This is brain poison.

I hated FFXIII and could write a novella listing all my problems with it. I think people who really liked that game are seriously deluding themselves. And yet, I know I'll end up buying this anyway. I'm part of the problem.

People who say FF13 sucked are plain whiners. They all want things to be perfect and guess what; everything in this world is flawed. You want everything to suit you preference then go make your own game. Sure FF13 is far from the best but it's not all bad. I can name more than five FF titles that are absolutely below 13.
 
You want this then buy this. You want other things then stop trolling on FF. There are a lot of better games out there and use your time playing those games. You don't want this sequel then don't buy it. Simple as that. Haters should just shut up.

I hated and loved XIII... Still not sure which feeling won out in the end. 

After the last game I don't trust FF as much. I'll wait for gameplay.

Final Fantasy XIII was shit.  At least X was decent.

I enjoyed XIII but I don't think I care enough about what happens after XIII to buy XIII-2...

Looks like the battle system is going to continue to disappoint me. Surprised Snow isn't in this trailer. Did everyone finally convince him that he can only be a hero by jumping off a cliff? Oh and I thought all of Snow's lackeys ended up dying in the opening sequence of XIII, or maybe I'm just not remembering right.
 
I'm going to hold off on FF until Versus hits. If it ever does.

I'm less than thrilled for this game. The coolest parts of the whole traielr were the bits with lightning in it and she really wasn't that fantastic a character in her own game. 
They could be remaking or creating sequels to some of the older more succesfull games or coming up with a new IP altogether but instead they're making a sequel that few if any wanted.
If they'd decided to make this game a few years from now it might seem less retarded but as it is, it seems like square is trying to get their money's worth on that ticket they bought for a ride on the fail train.

from the walkthrough they were showing, they were talking about fixing the "problems with battle system". There was no problem with the battle system, it was everything else. The annoying characters, the dull linear world, the lack of side quests, the poor voice acting, the lack of interesting customization of weapons and so on. The only thing this game had was a good battle system and even that wasn't showing it's full potential till chapter 8 or so. The world does open up at chapter 11 of 13 and this world is bland and full of kill quests that are boring. Don't fix the battle system, there was nothing wrong with it

I wonder what changes they are making to the gameplay.

I hope it actually says "cinematic action" during the cinematic action like that.

What the fuck is Square even thinking anymore? People have been begging for a Final Fantasy VII remake, a Chrono Trigger sequel, and more for quite a while now. Instead they're busy making games nobody asked for, and very few people want.

what??? Lightning is dead? Who is this punk Noel? Serah has a new boyfriend? WTF? where is Snow and the others? WTF?!?!

Yup, I'm quite surprise people get this confuse. Lightning is standoffish and argumentative (aka Squall). Cloud is more taciturn and withdrawn. Anyway, I'll probably get this because I bought XIII and might as well see this through to the end. Augh I hope this game is decent at least.

It goes even further than that.

Squall, Cloud and Lightning are all soldiers. That's about it as far as the similarities between Cloud and Lightning go. For the earlier parts, Squall and lightning are both fairly antisocial and argumentative. Both Lightning and Squall have a leadership role they didn't ask for. Squall begrudgingly accepts that role, while Lightning violently refuses it, and tends to take her anger out on others(Usually Snow). Squall's primary source of character development is his friends, who gradually get him to open up his cold personality over the course of at least a month. Lightning''s the same way, only she suddenly opens up over the course of about two days.

Cloud, on the other hand, is a mostly confused and internally conflicted guy whose main source of character development comes from him learning who he really is, and he just kind of goes with it when a bunch of people start following him.

Lightning is an angrier, less social and more violent Squall.

Anyways, I think I am one of the few people on the internet who didn't mind FFXIII. It had it's bad parts, but it also had a fair amount of good parts that kept it from being truly unlikable.

That said, this trailer completely ruined the few hopes I had for XIII-2.

Alright, I'm excited for this now. The last trailer did not a lot for me other than prove this title actually exists, but after a few re-watches, this trailer has grown on me. I am decidedly pumped!

Wow, Sora's all growed up now. Can you partner up with Mickey Moogle? In the last -2 game everyone was wearing theme park costumes by the end...

I joke, but eventually I will own a copy. So joke's on me. Goddammit.

Never finished XIII but I liked the battle system a lot. Not sure I'd play this one though.

While you say that, the fact that FFXIII sold in excess of 5.5 million copies makes me believe this franchise isn't going anywhere for a while.

Played through half of FFXIII -- I can't imagine why they're making a direct sequel to that game instead of doing another main series game or at least pushing to finish Versus XIII, which looks way more interesting.

XIII, XIII-2 and XIV I couldn't give a shit about please release Versus already.

Wondering if this one will also feature the great innovation of taking 40+ hours until they start letting people have more fun with the linear gameplay like the previous one.

I played through FF13.  It was alright.  I'll play this.  Graphically, man.  Although that guy looks like he's from Kingdom Hearts.
