Today is the Wii's third birthday. I thought it would be appropriate for us to recollect on how we got our Wii, especially for those of us who got it at launch. So tell your tales of how you united with the Wii! I'll do mine later.

The Nintendo Wii is a home video game console released on November 19, 2006. The Wii's main selling point was the innovative use of motion controls that its signature Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers allowed for. It became the best selling home console of its respective generation of hardware.
Happy birthday Wii!
Happy birthday Wii! Indeed I remember how I got my Wii very well. To afford all £180 of the Wii I had to save for months and completely refrained from buying any games to ensure that I had the cash. I pre-ordered the console and was told that as soon as my Wii was ready to be picked up I would be informed. Almost two weeks passed and I'd still received no call so I rung up and it turned out the local GAME store I ordered it with lost most of my details and then tried to convince me that I never submitted those details to them in the first place. I picked up my Wii eventually though and I'm glad I did save for it; games like Super Mario Galaxy and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess have made it all worth it. I think I might have to play some Super Smash Bros. to celebrate.
Well I bought mine for around 400$, got a good bit of use out of it and then stopped playing it and sold it.
Man has it really been three years, I remember standing in a shopping centre outside GAME waiting to get my Wii at midnight. GOt home played Zelda all weekend and its rarely been out every since.
My parents just got me a Wii. I've always appreciated it, but man does the Wii have some catching up to do.
But wow, three whole years! Happy birthday Wii!
My experience of the Wii launch was terrible, I was on the verge of collapse after getting a really nasty virus that day. I was actually in a full blown fever when the guys at the store gave me an alarm call.. I was ridiculously ill while waiting in the freezing cold in a queue outside the store, which was the HMV in London's Oxford Street. I was trying my best to cover it up from people in the queue, but many asked if I was feeling aright. Being the nice Nintendo fans they were, a couple of them plied me with warm cups of tea, Marijuana and slices of cake. Sadly on the way back I had to ask the taxi driver to pull over. I ended up throwing it all up out of the back door while clutching my Wii, lol.
Same thing sorta happened to me. I was #26 in line, and when the guys at the local Wal-Mart started letting people in, guess who they cut off at? *raises hand* I got my Wii that day, but still...
I got it on July 07 with Super Mario Strikers, Wii Sports, The godfather and Mortal Kombat. Nice times.
Other highlights include being too late for the Circuit City line about half a mile away, drinking something called a "Lemon Chug", and trying to figure out how one pluralizes Wii.
Wow, I must of had the easiest experience buying one.
It was early July 2007, I made a few week attempts to pick up a Wii before with no luck. Then on Sunday, I opened up my local newspaper to look at the circular to find a Circuit City add for Wiis, with 10 in stock. I told my Dad "Dad, we got to go, Circuit City has some Wiis on sale." We rushed all the way, to find 9 Wiis available at the store. It was too easy.
The night before launch my nephew waited in line a Best Buy all night, he got me ticket to buy at Target next door and called me at 8am. I got my ticket from him, waited 10 minutes and it was mine. Just to be an ass, I drove by the Best Buy line, Best Buy had not opened yet, and showed it to my nephew. I played all day and he slept, thanks buddy.
i basically bought a wii on ebay for 500$ just so i can play Twilight Princess right away! TP was The most anticipated game ever for me.
I remember when the Wii first came out. And I remember the first time I saw it in stores, 6 months later. That was when I bought it.
One of the best consoles ever made, contrary to the hate it gets around here. It's pretty ridiculous. No wonder you hate the Wii! You don't play it!
