Seriously, I got a fucking E74 error. Now don't get me wrong, I like the 360. In fact, it's my favorite console I've ever had. That being said, holy fuck. This is going to be the second time I have to send this thing in. it better be free because I will flip if it isn't. This is straight up bullshit.
Anyway, do you think they actually will check? I'll just say I have the RROD when I have a E74 in reality.
Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 is the second game console produced by Microsoft Corporation and is the successor to the original Xbox.
The Xbox is such a shit console.
^ that's my last resort.
But i'm bitching as much as I can right now. I'm talking to a "product representative"
Edit: fuck, I can tell they didn't even send me to one. It felt like a "here's what you do in this situation". I'm not going to pay $50 for something that is known to break
"My Xbox has never broke on me yet. I'm going on 3 years now...I guess some people just have bad luck."Not to make you feel insecure about your xbox, but that's exactly what situation I was in.
It is fucked up, but it remains a great console despite. Hopefully they will revise the console to reliable standard, and not rush out the next console.
Okay guys, I'd like some of your input.
I have 3 options:
1) Send it in for repairs. $50 + I recieve a 1 year warranty
Positives: 1 year warranty Neg: costs $50
2) Try to overheat it and get repair free
positives: free repair negative: how the hell do I do this?
3) Send it in pretending I have the 3 quadrants of death
positives: free repair negatives: will they repair it (anybody did this?)
I love Microsoft (gasp!), and I love Xbox 360's game library and Xbox LIVE, but I seriously dislike the console. I've been lucky enough to avoid the RRoD (my friend bought my old Xbox from me before I got an Elite and it red-ringed about two weeks later, haha), but all the technical issues are a big pain in the but. Worrying about my system scratching discs or just one day ceasing to function is very, very annoying. If only PSN was better functioning, and tat the system itself had a better library...

WOWZA!!!Besides the RRoD, there is also PS3's that shut down for good, too."Sorry for the E74, mang. We had five that E74'd last week alone."

Is a 280 GB HDD needed?
Ahhh... I guess. The beautiful thing about the ps3 though is that it accepts generic memory sticks- backup saves!!!
And by the way, I really am an idiiot. I just experienced what it feels like to be electocuted with a small amount of voltage. I forgot to turn of the power adaptor before plugging something out. I'm an idiot. ):
And also, I feel more awake now. Wondering, can electricity give you energy? I don't really understand electricity or fire though so I'm not sure. Chemically it doesn't.
^ Pause, the 360 is still, by far, the best console. It's just its hardware sucks. Now if you could have the 360 but with Ps3 quality hardware, that would be the ultimate gaming machine.
Either way though, a $50 repair with a 1 year warranty will last me until 2010, and a new xbox should come out soon then, which will undoubtly be backwards compatible.
Trying to RROD it as we speak, if not, $50 here I come! ...or you go...

i simply take out plugs all the time and have never once got electrocuted......................................
???
"mine hasn't broke yet, ive had it for about 2 years."I had mine for over 2 years and them boom RROD last week. you're never home safe =/

???"
neither have I. But apparently I was too ragey to think right. I took out half of the plug only.
It didn't actually hurt by the way. It feels, jees, I don't know how to explain it.
Almost like a buzzing.
I've been shocked by pieces of metal, but not like that. I think it's good that it happened once. Experience everythign!
"has anyone here ever had a wii break on them?"
I doubt anyone actually plays that enough to find out.
And who would honestly send it in for repairs? lulz
"My Xbox has never broke on me yet. I'm going on 3 years now...I guess some people just have bad luck."Either that or some people like you just have good luck cause the e74 error isn't the rrod and yet its another error that getting trendy quite frankly.

Thinking about getting a 5 year warranty for the Xbox 3 (getting one either way to play my 360 library trouble free)
Pay the money...better than the $140 they charged me (and later refunded). Last time I sent mine in they actually repaired it in a "special section" which also sent it back in a few days rather than weeks. For awhile it made more noise, but I have had no issues since then (it's been a long time). :)
Dude, just tell em you have the RROD and they'll repair it. Have a buddy that did this, (he didnt really have it, had one of the E errors) and they repaired it for him.
^ Doesn't matter now. I've overheated it already, I now have 2 quadrants. Should be 3 the next time I turn it on.
