Bio
Fei Fong Wong is the main protagonist in
Xenogears. He doesn’t remember any of his past before living in the countryside town Lahan, where we was dropped off as a young child by the masked Wiseman. An adept painter and proficient martial artist, Fei lives peacefully with his fellow townspeople and quickly becomes one of their own. He is banished from the town, however, when he climbs inside Weltall for the first time to combat Gears that had invaded the village and accidentally decimates the area.
Fei’s battling prowess plays against his apprehension to violence, not wishing to pilot Weltall nor keep fighting, regardless of the reasoning behind.
Citan leaves the village with him, Weltall in toe, to begin to search for repair parts for the broken Gear.
Abel (Significant Story Spoilers)
Fei’s existence is not solely his own. He is known as the Contact by those who know his true nature. He is the fourth reincarnation of Abel, one of the only survivors of the Eldridge. Fei is the last time Abel will be reincarnated, due to his exposure to a higher power.
Abel’s first form was that of himself. He and Elhaym discover the existence of Dues and rebel against Cain, who at that time is the leader of the world. In combat against him, Cain kills them both.
Abel’s second incarnation was Kim Kasim, who existed in the Zeboim area and was an excellent scientist. He developed a humanoid nanomachine colony known as Emeralda in order to help other people. His relationship will the colony was strong enough for
Emeralda to consider him (and later, Fei) a guardian being. After Miang attempted to capture Emeralda and destroy his technology, Kim went into hiding.
Abel’s third incarnation was Lacan. He, like Fei, was an adept painter, creating the famous portrait of Sophia in Nisan. Though he sides with those fighting against Solaris, after Sophia is killed, he becomes twisted and begins fighting to destroy the world. His existence became
Grahf.
Fei's Past, and His True Existence (Significant Story Spoilers)
Fei was born to Shevat citizens Khan and Karen Wong. He lived peacefully on the surface of the planet with his mother for several years until Miang possessed his mother and determined Fei to be a reincarnation of the Contact. He was often transported to Solaris, where terrible experiments were performed on him, and his personality split.
Fei’s original personality became repressed and known later as the Coward. Fei creates a much stronger personality that takes the torturous experiments in Solaris; this personality becomes known as
Id.
Khan discovers the terrible things happening against his son, but finds out when Grahf first appears. Khan eventually falls to Grahf, which brings out Id for the first time outside of Solaris, killing his mother who was possessed by Miang. Grahf finds the bloodied child, and begins working with him, Id becoming an unstoppable assassin. They served Solaris and were used against nations that attempted to rebel against Solaris, the most well-known of these disputes being Elru, where Id destroyed the entire country. Khan later returned and destroyed Grahf’s body, and repressed Id’s hold over his son, creating a third personality known as the present-day Fei.
Fei constantly has to subconsciously battle Id for control of his body. It is revealed that the Coward is the only thing standing between Fei becoming Id permanently. When Fei becomes Id, he doesn’t remember anything that occurs, and Weltall transforms into its “true” form, turning red and possessing wings.
Combat Techniques
Fei is an exceptional martial artist. He learned his techniques before he was brought to Lahan, explaining why Fei doesn’t remember learning his abilities. His ethers are a mixture of support and offensive abilities, but Fei’s real strength exists in his physical attacks. His speed is also one of the highest of the playable characters. Fei has the most Deathblows of all playable characters.

Gears
Fei's First Gear, Weltall
Fei's Second Gear, "Weltall-2" Fei is the only playable character to receive three Gears throughout the game. His first gear is Weltall, which he begins piloting during the attack in Lahan. Weltall uses its fists and legs to attack opponents.
After Fei comes to the realization of his personalities, he gains access to Weltall-2, which fights very similar to Weltall. The only significant addition to Weltall-2 is the use of Id Mode, where three Level Infinity Deathblows can be performed.
True Weltall-2
Fei's Omnigear, "Xenogears" His final gear is Xenogears, which is created when Fei and Weltall-2 come in contact with the Zohar after a battlewith Grahf. Xenogears is a complete redesign of the Gear, now colored white and blue instead of black, and fighting with a psychic field instead of direct contact. Xenogears is the strongest Omnigear in the game.
