Awesome Games?

Is it awesome?

Welcome to the ongoing series in which I--armed with retrospect--take a dive into the games of my distant past to determine whether or not they live up to my memories and truly deserve the title of "awesome," or if they're sadly revealed to be "decidedly not awesome." I appreciate you joining me on this journey, and I'd love to hear your own memories and/or more recent impressions of these games should you have any!

Great idea for a feature, and interesting to see you approach it via lists rather than blogs. Unless you're also planning blogs, and will tie the two together? Either way, it's cool and I'm looking forward to seeing how some of these games fare.

The games on this list that particularly resonate with me are Sonic 2, Pokémon Red and Blue, Spyro the Dragon and Tomb Raider. Really curious to see how you think they hold up under modern scrutiny. I'm going to say that all except Spyro have probably failed to stand the test of time - don't get me wrong, I have a lot of love for the other three, but I think they feel painfully dated. Spyro, on the other hand, I replayed earlier this year and still loved every single second of it.

@danielkempster: Hey thanks for the thoughts! This will indeed be a blog thing. This list is kind of just my secret (not so secret) planning space, haha.

Also, I still haven't figured out the angle I want to take on this because I know a lot of these games are from 15-20 years ago and will probably feel very dated. I think a game can feel dated and still be awesome, though. I might end up applying a very loose "science," similar to what Jeff and Jason do with Ranking of Fighters.
