Day 1 purchase for me! They should have released the video on July 4th though, would have been amazing!

The fifth console entry in the Assassin's Creed franchise. It introduces the half-Native American, half-English Assassin Connor and is set in North America in the late eighteenth century amid the American Revolutionary War.
Doesn't this video just make you all giddy for this game!
I wonder if sometimes people don't care if their "Youtube video and a sentence" thread gets locked or if they don't know?
Anyway, I didn't know this was going to be a more patriotic game. I thought it would be interesting to see it play off of both sides of the American Revolution instead of just siding with one and completely painting the other as an evil empire.

Too much american patriotism. Yawn. Where are the shades of grey?
I suspect the game will have them. The marketing is a separate animal and they can't pass up a 4th July trailer for easy material.
Yeah, I bet the actual game will be a lot more ambiguous about this. It has been said so many times that the story is about Assassins vs. Templars and they will be on both sides and so on. It's just the marketing.

The woman at the end with the axe protecting her two kids got me the most.
The kid was a bit ignorant, but hey, let kids be kids.
Or a kid tired of hearing blatant pro-British propaganda in their schoolhouse.
As an American, I love this setting and, as an historian, it's very dear to my heart. But I don't want it being too pro-America. They need to dig into those shades of grey. The Boston Massacre is a perfect example of American Rebel Extremism almost getting innocent British soldiers hanged for defending themselves.

It's doubtful that it will be this pro-'Murca. It came out on July 4th, so it's gonna be in favor of Americans. The actual game is probably going to be a lot different.

But isn't the cover of the protagonist tomahawking a redcoat with an American flag waving in the background?

Aren't covers part of marketing? Y'know, shiny piece of paper over the box that attracts the customer? Regardless, I doubt it makes a difference. For once I'm semi-optimistic, so I don't think Ubi is gonna screw up bad enough to make it all pro-America and stuff.

They should release the game 4th of July next year, but that would mean that Ubisoft would have to go OVER A YEAR before they release another AC game, which I think it's impossible for them to do.

Hmm, I was gonna say that I'd consider the cover as being much more reflective of the actual product, but then I remembered Heavy Rain's North American Wet T-shirt Cover. Alright, I'm back to being optimistic...kind of...
Neat trailer - but just having played AC 2 & Brotherhood & Revelations - there's just something about Assassin's Creed that's not for me. I found myself often cringing whilst Ezio pulls himself up the one thousandth ledge, everything just feels like there's a split-second too much of 'wasting my time' to be perfectly entertaining. And that's before all the filler and the auto-pilot combat wear me out. I'm like halfway through Revelations currently, and I doubt I'll be finishing it, before moving on to other games for good.
What Assassin's Creed really needs? A grappling hook. Tediously 'going up' for hours on end? Why not just *swush*, grapple and be done with it? Like Batman? Or a ninja? Oh yes - here we go... the real Assassin simulator - TENCHU!

Yup...ubi are banking on blind American patronism on this one. Wonder how many millions will be stupid enough to fall for it. The real shame is it's likely to be a good game and doesn't need this sort of moronic advertising.
You idiots have to turn everything into some sort of debate about either religion, politics or patriotism. Fucking hell! Enjoy the video and the game for what it is. A fun game.
Also, haven't you ever seen The Patriot? Oh that's right, you're all too young to have seen it (13 year olds) - why is it you guys have an opinion again?
This is pretty much everything that worries me about AC3. It just seems that their attempt to save this franchise is to go "Hey Americans, USA! USA! USA!". As a european this setting just doesn't bring anything great or interesting to the table, and if that's their main new feature for the game I'm not really interested.

The debate is about those things as they relate to the game and the video. I've never seen an OP act like a bitch because the subject in their post was being discussed.
Anyways, the video is boring.
Who cares who you're killing in the game and what side it favors? I just want some face and neck stabbing like uh, uh, uh ,uh, uh.
As a British person with absolutely ZERO history knowledge whatsoever of American history (I only even have a vague grasp of any kind of European history) - What the heck are they talking about in this trailer? Why is this stuff ignorant? Are they supposed to be bad guys or good guys?
I think I'm enjoying this trailer more than most because of this ambiguity...
Everything the devs have said about the Assassin/Templar internal fiction of the Revolutionary War has indicated that the Templars are on both sides.
Charles Lee (a Continental Army General) is indicated to be an antagonist in the game, whether or not that means he is a Templar is up for speculation.
I choose to trust the words of people that work on the actual game as opposed to those that put together CG trailers for the game(especially with the kind of marketing Ubisoft does). I'll judge the patriotism of the game when it actually comes out.
