The third game in the BioShock series leaves the bottom of the sea behind for an entirely new setting - the floating city of Columbia, circa 1912. Come to retrieve a girl named Elizabeth, ex-detective Booker DeWitt finds more in store for him there than he could ever imagine.
Giant Bomb's E3 2011 Game of the Show
I look forward to many editorials during the dry season, but I wasn't expecting this.
I really like the thought process and set up of Bioshock Infinite.
I love the fact that they make a world that truly has the depth to back it up.
I wonder what they have in store for the main body of the story?
Will it be mostly driven by the open-world nature?
Too early to tell- though I could see some fun with timewarping.
Looking forward to what they have in store.
Poetic
it says a ot about how far the games industry has come when you look at the stark contrast between this ( bioshock ) and the just released ( started design in the 90's ) duke nukem forever.
That games of this or any format can provide such a classy and interesting experiance can exist is a grand thing indeed. Its just a shame that the specters of the past are still around bothering us all.

@Marino: Let's hope it's out by then, but if it isn't, I wouldn't be surprised if it was!
I would be very surprised if it was out by next E3. It's due out in 2012, and I'm expecting it to be a holiday release. I could even imagine it slipping into 2013.

Honestly thought Battlefield 3 is the game of the show. You guys sure love your Ken Levine and Bioshock, too much. Sell outs...
Look at this guy!

So, because you disagree with their pick, they are sell outs? Somehow that doesn't add up.
For sure, Bioshock Infinite isn't my game of the show but I don't see anything wrong with them picking that game. Oh and Battlefield 3 seems technically impressive, I thought the environments and actual game (from what they've shown) looks bland as fuck.
Knew this wold win but I have to say I totally agree. The game demoed great, it looked great, and its got a lot of great ideas behind it.

I admit, I should have been a little more sarcastic with my comment, however, from a viewer's point of view I'm still seeing the same thing I saw last year from BioShock Infinite, and there's absolutely nothing too incredible at E3 that gives the game any more merit. And the lengthy interview with the creator seems to give an impression that GB's opinions are not as independent as I would have thought before, because ..maybe they're good friends with the creators, for one.
I liked what Levine had to say, especially the bit where he admitted that they couldn't figure out what to do with BioShock and underwater combat, which makes me believe that Infinite will be GREAT. However, everyone else seems to think BF3 is the game of the show. Why? Because it's the most hyped. Because it had the longest line ups. Because it looks and plays incredibly. Because the developers know what the players like and this is going to be appealing to such a wide audience. BS Infinite - its single player experience will enthral us and then that's it, we're done. Doesn't sound like the sort of game that should be objectively considered as the best of E3 based on normal judging merits. Doesn't seem like it's important or 'big' enough as some of the other stuff we've seen.
@Saltank: And BF3 will be revolutionary? It's all opinions in the end, no reason to jump to that type of conclusions just because you disagree. What is this? That OTHER website? Your definition of "game of the show" is not something I agree with.
For me, this winning game of the show is as weird Battlefield 3 winning game of the show. Both will likely be very good games, but what was shown at E3 wasn't all that spectacular. Perhaps the giant bomb dudes got a better look at the game than I did, but everything I saw of the game at E3 just made it look like a shooter with a nice art style and well designed on-rails segments.

Hmm, you're probably right but I would still want to play it earlier in the year! Ha ha ha.
I didn't like Bioshock 1 at all. The second one was a lot better so I got high hopes for the next one.
Should've picked a game that was out this year and that you actually got to play rather than watch someone else demoing it.
Oh ye because that tank sequence they showed really deserves game of the show, are you serious? And anyway why would they be sellouts just because they picked a game you didnt like?Honestly thought Battlefield 3 is the game of the show. You guys sure love your Ken Levine and Bioshock, too much. Sell outs...

It's more impressive because it's breaking the same old rhythm set by MW games. Read previous comments for explanation.
After reading a couple comments on this thread i believe some people need to learn what an "opinion" is.
I remember when this game got announced there was alot of collective mehs from alot of people on various sites and I remember being very confused. Irrational have never steered me wrong before so I will sit down and play anything they put out because Freedom Force and it's sequel have bought infinite goodwill from me.
