You may not remember Bloody Roar, but you probably remember a fighting series with animals! That was Bloody Roar, and fans were spun into a frenzy on Friday afternoon when a seemingly official Twitter account from developer Hudson Soft declared Bloody Roar 5 a reality.

Just days later, the news has been debunked; whoever's in control of that account post-Konami takeover was simply screwing with people.

"Sorry people," read an update just hours ago. "Just wanted to show @Konami that their is still fans of #BloodyRoar."

Bloody Roar was an interesting series, but really, when was the last time Konami made or published a fighting game? That's really what should have set off the alarm bells. Activision and Hudson published 3 and 4 respectively on ps2. That and the fact that the fighting genre hasn't made that big a comeback for the real niche ps1/ps2 games to be dusted off.

Cue the "this isn't news" cretins.

Bloody Roar 4 was kinda weird, but I've played SO MUCH Bloody Roar 2 you would not believe. BR 3 is also pretty great.

I unapologetically love Bloody Roar 2, Bakuryu was my go-to character in that game. His dashing mole-drill attack was pretty badass.
 
I don't think I'd have high hopes for new installment here in 2011 anyways, but a boy can dream.

bloody roar 4 was so bad..... as long as they make is like 1-3 it will be a good game. but they wont give it a try.

i never played it and it only grabbed my attention during the ps3 360 era so the idea of a new one was interesting. but it being fake il just go back to street figher...... where did all the crazy go from fighting games
