Are SMG's good?
I found SMG's to be good on takeing down enemies at medium range when I need a lot of firepower at a fast rate when there were enemies around me as well. Plus their good for Raaks.
Yes they are, even better when you manage to find the SMG that sets enemies on fire. It's the only SMG I've been using for the entire game.
Yes, even though I never used them on my main character (Roland) except for the 12 Days of Pandora achievement. My co-op friend who played Lilith used nothing but them.
" @eroticfishcake said:Don't worry you will find some great fire and corrosive SMGs as you progress. I had a couple of "yellows" that I found in Old Haven. My Siren primarily uses SMGs and sniper rifles when in combat. A word of advice is to always choose elemental damage weapons over regular weapons which might have higher numbers. The damage-over-time modifiers that come with being a Siren more than meet the any deficiency you might find between a lower level elemental weapon and a higher level normal weapon." "Yeah fire SMG's are good since my Lilith is fire based, but im having trouble finding them. "

" Yeah, they aren't bad. I use shotguns more though. "This ^^^ plus revolvers for me
I used my fists and shotgun for the most of the game but, my friend found a crazy fire SMG and used that for the most of the fist play though and on my Lilth side character SMGs are teh funzorz :D so, yes they are good.
SMGs seem to be the biggest crapshoot. Throw a high muliplier fire SMG on a damage boost spec'd Lilith and you'll be in for some good times. I also really loved The Spy quest weapon. I personally prefer a high accuracy, and mid-to-high rate of fire over the strong but super low accuracy/fire rate varieties - I prefer a shotgun for that type of weapon.
Didn't think i'd use them much with my Hunter, but I think its a great short to medium range, especially with an element attached.
I got this awesome SMG that had a great scope, fire-rate and accuracy and had fire properties. As an upgraded Siren, my elemental power-ups were pretty darn heavy too. That gun kicks ass.
It's all about finding the right gun. For me, I've got a number of kickass SMGs that can fell pretty much anything, at my current level, in seconds. It's especially useful with a skill that ups the rate of fire (and ammo regen, of course. Combat rifles... not so much. It sucks because I want to use rifles, but I keep finding better weapons in different categories (the best being revolvers).
SMG's are arguably one of the best if not the best weapon type in the game. These are two that I got. That purple btw. The damage is x4. So everytime I fire it shoots 4 bullets. I can take down a Badass style mob in two clips. And I can't even use SMG damage mod because I'm Mordecai. SMGs are pretty damn good.
" @Chyro:Ooh nice, that's a pretty scope too. I'm more of a sniper myself, but I also carry around a combat rifle for emergencies. No smg for me.
yea Hellfire is like the best gun in the game, w/ my merc mod + bullet velocity and fire rate skills, this gun is a killer
oh and mine is better! hehe and lower lvl req for who knows what reason
jjjjeaalous?

" @Chyro:Nice. Did you get that solo or where you playing with other people? XBOX/PC/PS3? Though I still think the double anarchy is ridiculously powerful. I only used the Hellfire from far away. Once they got in close in close I just switched because I can literally just chew through Badasses with it. Only bad thing is it goes through bullets insanely fast.

Back to the original question though. A lot of what determines is if it is a good weapon is what class you are as Sirens for instance get + SMG damage on their class mods. But mostly all weapons are uber if you have high proficiency and the weapon itself is good.
