If you're getting the PC version, you have to apparently download a high res textures pack on launch day if you're using DX11.  
 
Just letting everybody know just in case they don't tell you that when the game comes out.

Is this only for retail or is it for steam as well? 
I can see why they would do it, with limited disc space and all, and it wont hurt the people that are actually capable of running it but it is still kind of wierd.

Oh well this Signature Edition business and DLC on day one made me a bit wary, I'll pick it up next year in an Ultimate Edition off a Steam sale.

I wonder if Skyrim will work like that? Not that I would be able to run something with that much punch.

I thought the title was a joke about the game having low-res textures or something.

High textures can use any DX10 video card, right? For Very High you will need DX11.

Thats pretty weird, but okay. Im sure theres a reason for it

If they couldn't fit it on the disc it's better then not having the option of high-res textures. Textures take up a lot of space.

Feels like a pain in the ass that we've pre-downloaded it to find that we'll still be doing some downloading on the release date. And living in the UK we have to wait a few days more before we get to press play. Ah well...

Awesome. That's a way to say "fuck you" to the size limitations of DVD9 without ridiculous compression or extra discs.

At least they haven't placed it behind a price tag. High Res Textures DLC, anyone?

Watching the live stream today i can confirm that the texture pack will come out at or before the game is released on march 8th, since the game got midnight launch etc. And no it dont costs money, only Activition would come up with that stupid idea. Or maybe capcom would have it on the retail disc that needs to be unlocked with a key that you need to buy.

Thank god this thread was saved from that guy empty quoting, it mighta gone offtopic or something if it wasn't. 
 
Oh also, Bioware may make a great game, but their handling of basically everything else is a complete and utter disaster.

Are the high res textures only for DX11? If so I'll probably pass anyways since my system doesn't run DX 11 well.

I heard it was coming out Monday before the release of the game. I am sure they don't want their servers being crushed with people downloading the high res texture pack on release day.

I assume this is for digital releases only.  Not surprising in the least. If you don't have a DX11 card why would you want to download an extra 4 gigs worth of useless textures.
