If you're getting the PC version, you have to apparently download a high res textures pack on launch day if you're using DX11.
Just letting everybody know just in case they don't tell you that when the game comes out.
Dragon Age II
Game » consists of 16 releases. Released Mar 08, 2011
This sequel to Dragon Age: Origins features faster combat, a new art style, and a brand new, fully voiced main character named Hawke.
High Res Textures don't come with the game.
Is this only for retail or is it for steam as well?
I can see why they would do it, with limited disc space and all, and it wont hurt the people that are actually capable of running it but it is still kind of wierd.
....weird
Is that why the fucking demo crashed and froze on me?
Oh well this Signature Edition business and DLC on day one made me a bit wary, I'll pick it up next year in an Ultimate Edition off a Steam sale.
Console versions." If you're getting the PC version, you have to apparently download a high res textures pack on launch day if you're using DX11. Just letting everybody know just in case they don't tell you that when the game comes out. "
EDIT: So this doesn't bother me so much. Kind of ridiculous though... (better?)
I thought the title was a joke about the game having low-res textures or something.
What this actually is is kind of worse?
" @Cirdain: It wasn't a question...I didn't get it either. You're lucky he said anything, he often just quotes another user without actually saying anything for himself. "To be fair I didn't know what the hell was going on with that either, looking at his blue username I thought it was a weird underhanded comment about how consoles won this time against the PC version...

Your point being what? I post only with quotes when the person I'm quoting has accurately described my feelings on the subject and I have nothing to add. Would it please you if I added a "this", or a "truth" comment on the end?
" I wonder if Skyrim will work like that? Not that I would be able to run something with that much punch. "I bloody hope not! If I have to download half the game I might as well buy the bloody thing digitally - the reason I want it on disc is a) because my internet is appalling and I'm not waiting 2 freaking days WITHOUT INTERNET because I'm downloading, and b) because if they pull the high rez textures or the whole game off of the web, cause they become even more cheap and cba to host it, I still have the game.
If I'm buying a freaking game I want it all on a disc thank you.
" No one asks for a source? "Um, yeah. The game will also come with a blow-up doll of Flemeth, so that players can really get into that mature storytelling.
" @Cirdain: I meant, that I was looking forward to the console version, so that didn't concern me. You have to read into it a little, while in the proper context. What would please me, and everyone else, is if you didn't do that at all unless you have something original to say. It's essentially spam.

" @LiquidPrince said:Posting isn't necessarily about having original things to say... It's a discussion, and when I agree with what someone has said, I can quote them, which is implying that I agree with that sentiment. So you're saying no one should post anything unless it's original? Look at any thread and you'll have people reiterating what the person above them just said. Do you consider that spam? I see no difference in just quoting people." @Cirdain: I meant, that I was looking forward to the console version, so that didn't concern me. @LiquidPrince: Is it really that hard to explain why you agree with a user? The forum should always ferment good discussions and empty quoting just leads to abuse so quickly that it isn't funny anymore.
" @MB: We should just ban quote pyramids and empty quoting period. It serves no purpose and gets out of hand really quickly.Yes please. It annoys me when people just constantly empty quote in my topics.

" @ZombiePie: That sounds good, let's work on it.This.
@LiquidPrince: No more empty quotes or quoting users and then saying "+1" or "This" or some other inane comment. Consider this to be effective immediately and we'll work on getting something put into the forum rules/FAQ docs. Thanks. "

(also do QFT's fall into this new category?)
Feels like a pain in the ass that we've pre-downloaded it to find that we'll still be doing some downloading on the release date. And living in the UK we have to wait a few days more before we get to press play. Ah well...
Watching the live stream today i can confirm that the texture pack will come out at or before the game is released on march 8th, since the game got midnight launch etc. And no it dont costs money, only Activition would come up with that stupid idea. Or maybe capcom would have it on the retail disc that needs to be unlocked with a key that you need to buy.
Are the high res textures only for DX11? If so I'll probably pass anyways since my system doesn't run DX 11 well.
