To little to damn late. The 3D guy is treating this like its a joke. Its been 10 years. Even if the game does come out. Its gonna get smacked around because of how long it took.
Duke Nukem Forever
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Jun 14, 2011
After approximately fourteen years of development, the heavily infamous sequel to Duke Nukem 3D was finally released, in which the macho Duke must damper yet another alien invasion.
3D Realms's George Broussard Announces That Pigs Fly
I was a Duke fan until it went 3d, I never played it because I wasn't allowed to haha, so to me the whole fps Duke thing is weird, I'm still in side scrolling Duke mode.
You forgot that the pigs themselves could also be a reference to Duke Nukem, Kessler, as the pig cop is something of an iconic enemy in DN3D.
I don't get the rhetoric about how Duke Nukem is a product of the 80s/90s/whatever and how the character is no longer relevant. So? For better or worse, we live in a culture that laps that nostalgia shit right up. Look at New Super Mario Bros. Look at Pepsi Throwback. Hell, look at The Expendables. An 80's throwback action movie starring a bunch of washed-up actors just hit #1 on the US box office. This says to me that irrelevant is the new relevant.
Personally, if Duke Nukem Forever does come out, I'll be the first in line to pick up a copy. Not only because I have a fuzzy sentimental nostalgic attachment to the first game, but because between this, Bulletstorm and Bioshock Infinite, I'm hoping that the non-gritty, non-realistic first-person shooter is going to make a comeback.
Edit: By "the first game" I meant Duke Nukem 3D, but I was a fan of the sidescrollers, too.
OH SWEET FUCKING YES!!! I REALLY don't care so much about duke nukem any more but this sort of excites me cause I was a duke fan once and I really wanted to play forever and didn't think it was going to be made and that rumor from a couple of weeks ago I thought it was just another trick but now I really think it's going to be made and I want to see it. But not as much as before more like a curiosity to see what they've done.
I think it would be even better if Gearbox announced that Duke would be out 'sometime'. Just stretch this thing on forever. Like forever.
The coolest thing about Alan Wake and Prey is that they took a bazillion years to come out.
" @Flaime said:Whatever, "Lights Out" is a totally legit song" @TadThuggish said:You care about it ironically, as witnessed by throwing out meaningless and overused internet catchphrases to be used by 14-year-olds. Your "care" for Duke Nukem Forever is equal to the "love" everyone has for Rick Astley. "" Can someone tell George Broussard that no one actually cares about Duke Nukem anymore? He's a total product of the 90s, and by now everyone's interest isn't about playing the actual game as much as it is the story behind it. The guy sounds enormously, enormously pathetic. "I care about it. Your argument is invalid. "
Gearbox would be a good choice. the pic to me means "When Pigs Fly' usually not promising, but mabe the pigs are flying is what is mean't. And I will care when the game is actually happening. Like others it's gone from Internet bandwagan plus personal enjoyment of DN-3d and the Manhatten project, to wondering if there will ever mabe be a System shock 3, or how the new Deus ex will work out , for these games of the past into the future. In all fairness, Bioshock picked up the 'Shock' burden I guess, but Iv'e never forgotten about my favorite Pre- Skynet Bad self -aware crazy artificial intelligence Lady, Shodan. And Halflife.. pure WTF! Time for Valve to remember where it all started. Hopefully thats one of Gabes annnouncements.
So Duke Nukem, simply in the bucket with the others, and not even my primary interest. Gearbox though..better not affect the Borderlands Sequel!
" lol @ all the modern warfare kiddies proclaiming "herp durp no-one cares about duke anymore." Go back to playing your guitar hero of fps games; the king has returned. "I 100% disagree. DN was average at best. It was corny and badly structured. Some people just remember it to bebetter than it rea;lly was because it had boobs and peeps shows and strippers that exploded.
Or the reverse can be attributed to that image in that the game ever coming out at all is akin to when pigs start flying. I adhere to that sentiment."I mean, it’s crazy to say this image indicates that, yes, Duke Nukem Forever is once again in development, and Gearbox is somehow involved with that new development..."

" @ShoddyGo said:As somebody to whom boobs, peep shows and strippers aren't appealing, I liked Duke Nukem 3D mostly because it was jocular and didn't take itself too seriously, and there was an attention to detail in the level designs that was really rare back then. Having just played it again recently on the 360, I'd say it holds up quite well compared to a lot of other shooting games from that era." lol @ all the modern warfare kiddies proclaiming "herp durp no-one cares about duke anymore." Well I have to disagree about that... The main reason I love that game, was because the game had something, that the other shooters didn't at the time... It was super interactive, had clever level design, awesome weapons.. but most important of all.. It had personality...
