No hear me out, the only thing I can think of that the FP perspective brings to the game is combat and that's so scripted already. Its always shoot barrel to kill guy here orjust run away here and stuff like that. Some times it feels more scripted than CoD! The puzzles would fit so well in a point and click game. Example: Use Gravity Gun on brick. Use Brick on seesaw. Walk up seesaw. So remove combat+change perspective = good Point and Click game? What do you think?
Half-Life 2 Would it be a better point and click game?
Meth can do these things you, now we should all learn from this before valve thinks this is a good idea and starts producing left 4 dead 3 and making it a point and click.
Part of what made half life great was the storytelling in the enviroment, being a point and click game might preserve the story in the enviroment but it would never be quite the same as moving through it yourself. Like the moments where you get the HEV suit and the gravity gun, it would be less cool to see a guy do it than see "you" do it.
" Not really. If you took away the unique way Half-Life tells the story from the first person and turned it into a point and click it would be dull as hell, the game is far too linear. "See this was the answer I was looking for!

" It would be kinda goofy yet, cool at the same time I think. Just make the game have the same visuals as the original Monkey Island. "
Exactly!
You raise an interesting point. The combat is one of the weak points of the game. The storyline and puzzle solving are the main draws of Half-Life 2. And since the best genre for storytelling and puzzles are adventure games, then, at least on the face of it, adventure would be a superior genre for the game.
However, Half-Life 2 has a lot of pace. You're rushing through the area's reasonably quickly to get to the next. And adventure games are far slower paced. You have to take your time to explore your surroundings and solve the puzzles. So it would involve making the game an excruciatingly long experience, or removing some of the locations, and therefore storyline, vital to the games status. And I don't know how I'd feel about the half-life universe if I was given more time to explore it. It might lead players to view it in a different light, and I don't know if I want to see it in a different light.
So I'm going to say no. If they had made it an adventure game from the start, I have no doubt it would be awesome, and if I had played this hypothetical adventure game before playing the FPS, I'd probably feel the opposite way, that an FPS alters the Half-Life 2 too much, but that never happened.
Unless you've got a time machine. Dude, tell me you've got a time machine. I'd love to go back, convince the devs to make an adventure game and see what it'd be like.

"The reason I posted this is that I found Half-Life 2's pacing to be very similar to a PnC. When your on a roll your moving fast. But when your stuck, your really stuck.
