Has there ever been a game that drove you to purchase a console?

Tomb Raider Underworld was the game which drove me to buy a PS3, and it has possibly been my most favourite Tomb Raider game yet, surpassing my love for TR2.

But I don't think it would ever happen again... Unless I had lots of money to 'F around with.

Knights of the Old Republic got me to buy the original X Box, then Persona 4 Golden got me to buy a Vita. Really wishing I bought the Vita a month later after all the retailer price drops.

I'm pretty sure I bought a SNES to play Super Mario World. Didn't everyone?

Nintendo games for Nintendo consoles.

The new Monolith Soft RPG in the works for Wii U is potentially causing this for me.

Also, Chronicles of Riddick and Halo 2 for the OG Xbox pushed me over the edge, as did RE4 for the Gamecube.

I came REALLY close to getting a 360....but then Mass Effect came to PS3 so i went like :D and stopped that thought.

Getting a 3DS was an inevitability for me anyway, but Fire Emblem accelerated the process tremendously.

I bought a Wii for Twilight Princess and my 360 for Gears of War and Fable 2.

wish i could afford that luxury. would love to have a ps3 for the exclusives but that would rack up too much dough

Banjo Kazooie for the N64.

I remember when getting the original xbox the main reasoning behind it was Halo, never really got many other games on that system apart from the halo series to be honest (I was buying a lot more Gamecube games since I didn't share that with my brother) but I surprisingly don't regret it.

For some reason one of the main things that impressed me about halo was the grass texture looked good

Smash Bros Melee made me buy a Gamecube.

Pokemon Yellow for the GBC, Kingdom Hearts for the PS2. I still love my PS2, and I was really bummed out the other day when I discovered a lot of brick-and-mortar stores had completely gotten rid of their PS2 section, because there's still several games I wanted to track down (I know I could use Amazon, but I've always been adamant about buying things online).

I own a Vita specifically for Persona 4 Golden.

Oblivion got me to buy a 360 before i had a capable gaming pc. Skyrim got be to upgrade my pc upon its release.

New Mario games, and by new i mean Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy. Not New super mario brothers. ( i do like em but they are not the reason id buy a console. )

And for the wii U specifically smashbros might push me over, online smashing would be pretty sweet :)

I bought my PS3 because Unreal Tournament 3.

I bought a PS2 to play Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec, still one of my all time favorites. Similarly I bought a 360 to play Forza & Oblivion

I'm buying a 3DS for Fire Emblem and the swarm of jrpgs that will be sure to follow. My VITA is a PSX emulator/P4G machine.

I'm thinking about buying a Playstation 3 for The Last of Us, and to experience the Uncharted games. Also, so I can play Grand Theft Auto V without having multiple discs.

I have a wii for the galaxy games and I haven't played any other games on it. I've also only played through the uncharted series on ps3. I've started certain games on both but never finished anything else.

Xbox 360 - none, just wanted the new system because of all the changes they were making with Xbox Live

PS3 - Killzone 2. It looked so good. Then it turned out so bad. Luckily, Uncharted 2 came out late that same year.

Metal Gear Solid is the reason I got a Playstation. So my experience with Psycho Mantis was reasonably normal and not 4th wall breaking.

Grand Theft Auto 3 got me to get a PS2.

Geometry Wars is why I got a 360

Trash Panic is why I got a PS3.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is why I got a 3DS

I bought a 360 for Forza, Alan Wake and Splinter Cell Conviction, I do in fact regret my purchase. It has NOT gotten enough use to be worth it.

I almost bought a VITA for the price and cause I wanted to replay P4

I wanted a GBC when I was a kid to play Pokemon Red. I got a PS2 to play the first Ratchet & Clank. I bought the MGS4 PS3 bundle on release day for MGS4.

Atari for Pac-Man (even that was probably more my parents purchasing decision)

NES for Super Mario Bros.

Gameboy for Tetris

SNES for Super Mario World

Genesis for X-Men

GBA for Castlevania: Circle of the Moon

Virtual Boy for $25 (hahaha... Seriously though, I still have it)

Playstation for Final Fantasy VII

Dreamcast for Evolution: The World of Sacred Device

Playstation 2 because I loved Playstation

Nintendo 64 for Super Mario 64

GameCube for anything Nintendo made

DS for Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

Wii for Mario Galaxy

3DS for Super Mario 3D land

When Final Fantasy 7 came out, I convinced my brother and sister to fore go regular christmas presents and get a playstation. Said it would be good for everyone. I count that as one of my greatest early life accomplishments lol.

Batman: Arkham City made me buy a 360

Gears of war was the game that sold me on buying the 360, for a while it was the only game I had because I didn't have the extra money for any more. While, Pokemon is the often reason I buy nintendo handhelds, sure I play and enjoy many other games on it but Pokemon plays a key roll as to when I finally buy a handheld.

nah. games influenced my choice of 360 over the PS3 though.

(mass effect, gears, and halo, mostly mass effect though)

I bought an Xbox 360 for Crackdown... feel free to laugh, I do, don't regret it though.

I always buy consoles for the games and not the hardware. The best hardware in the world cannot make up for a lack of software.

PSVita solely for Persona 4 Golden. Worth it.

Bought 360 to play Mass Effect

For 360 it was the original Gears of War. I got a PS3 for Uncharted 2 and MGS4.
