That's pretty much the last spot I figured he'd wind up being in, but it does make me very interested in seeing what becomes of Gamespot. Davison is one of my idols.

Yeah, it's a quality read now. I'm not really a fan of magazines these days, given how constant news and coverage is on the internet, but if I were to read one it'd probably be that. @Radar said:

Haha, well it could still continue to be good, but he's been fully separated from anything Gamepro related. Not quite sure what his position is at Gamespot.
It isn't shameful if you don't know the personalities - internet fame is a fairly recent phenomeon - but if you read 1up of EGM in the last 10 years you likely felt his influence.
I like the guy and Gamespot have a podcast so as long as he gets on that it is an improvement for me. At least it wasn't IGN. I wonder how the structure will go. I can't see him taking a subordinate position so replace the EIC or a new VP type slot above that?

By all accounts he sold his website so he didn't lose shit tones of money and who knows why his stint at Gamepro was so short, perhaps Gamespot offered bug money, perhaps he just couldn't get used to the print cycle again after doing online, perhaps something else.
Man, that boy gets around! Still, everywhere he's been is better for his presence. But even Johnny English can't clean up Gamespot. I wish him luck though and may actually have to click over there and see what he's doing.

Have you tried reading Edge? It's pricey (at least in the US, where I pay $100 for a subscription) but worth every penny. Awesome design, great exclusive previews for games you haven't heard about yet, AAA interviews, and really solid reviews (they are really, really demanding reviewers).

Yeah i love it too, one of the better gaming podcasts around these days.
Never heard of the guy. Probably because if he did work for 1UP then that would be why, never did pay that site or it's offshoot publications any time of day.
I would have put money on him going to Shack News with Garnett. Davidson does great on a podcast, I even listened to What they Play even though I don't have kids. I'm hoping he starts going on the Hotspot now.
Davidson is ok I guess. More often then not he just annoyed me with the things he said on 1up yours. Still, hes going to be the best thing going at gamespot as far as I know.

It depends. Did you ever find Garnett annoying? Weekend Confirmed lacks someone like Shane calling him on his bullshit and someone like John telling him to STFU when he is going on and on and on. I now only listen to WC is they have a guest on, Garnett behaves better then.
