This year has been a great year for games, and, unfortunately it has not been good to my wallet.
So, how much $ did you spend on games this year?
Hmm... I estimate from a rough calculation in my head to have spent about $700 on games. ROUGHLY. This is of course imagining every game to be about $70 after taxes which wasn't always the case.
Trying to think: probably roughly $150-$160. This is only counting games, and I don't think I bought more than 3 games this year. Can't really think if I have any extra money buying anything else, because I know I haven't grabbed any 360 accessories or extra time for Xbox Live.
Fable II
Gears of War 2
Mass Effect
Saved alot using GameFly.
Just looking at the past few months, I can't remember how much I payed for games before that:
Mercs 2 - £25
Too Human - £20
FIFA 09 - £40
Fable II - £45
Far Cry 2 - £40
Midnight club LA - £40
Endwar - £40
Gears 2 - £30
Banjo N&B - £40
CoD WaW - £40
Mirrors Edge - £40
Left 4 Dead - £40
Rock Band 2 £40
If I've done my maths right (which I probably haven't, I suck at mental arithmetic) that comes to £480.
Should be "have" rather than "had" as it is far from over for me and December is traditionally my biggest spend.
I spent 15 bucks on batteries for my controllers, and 0 dollars on games. I just borrow em' from my uncle who gets about every noteworthy release for the 360. I may have to wait 2 weeks to play the new stuff, but It beats paying 60 bucks a piece.
I have probably spent somewhere between $200-300 on games, but I bought a 360 this year, so closer to $600
"oldschool said:I have!!!! Keep in mind a new Wii & PC game is $100. A DS & PSP game $60. I am averaging my cost down at an average of less than 50% retail. I picked up a super bargain for my PC yesterday - Command & Conquer Tiberium Wars for just $10. Can't wait to play it."Wii - 21 games - $1300You need to work those bargain angles a hell of a lot better :("DS - 25 games - $1000PS2 - 13 games - $500PSP - 5 games - $200PC - 12 games - $400Total - 76 games @ $3400 (US$2200 - Cad$2800 - GBP1500)"
"Should be "have" rather than "had" as it is far from over for me and December is traditionally my biggest spend.Your post makes me feel better about my own spending =)As it is though, being Aspergers and feeling the compulsion to keep lists, I know exactly what happened to my wallet this year.I won't name the games, but rather just the consoles and I will round the dollars.Wii - 21 games - $1300DS - 25 games - $1000PS2 - 13 games - $500PSP - 5 games - $200PC - 12 games - $400Total - 76 games @ $3400 (US$2200 - Cad$2800 - GBP1500)Plus I bought a second Wii from Canada for importing at another $400.With other bits , plus 2 magazines a month, it exceed $4000 and I expect that there is still a few hundred dollars left to be spent (and I got a new Macbook, upgrading the RAM on the iMac and Macbook, plus an external hard drive - sheesh, it never ends).I would be rich if it wasn't for games. I would be less happy though. Beats porn and hookers :)"
Much less than last year, which was somewhere in the $1000-1500 range.
- 10 VC games -$95.
- 5 WiiWare games - $55.
- 3 Gamecube games - $15.
- 3 Wii games - $130.
- Spore - $50.
Total cost adds up to less than $400. I will say getting Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2 for $3 each were my steals of the year. Oh, and if you count the $30 in Microsoft Points for my brother's birthday and the 2 DS games I'm getting my cousins for Christmas, it could push it past $400.
- Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy (PS2) - $40
- Grand Theft Auto IV - $60
- Blitz: The League (Xbox), Space Giraffe, Braid, Bionic Commando Rearmed, 5 Rock Band DLC Songs - $46
- Half-Life 2 - $0
- Rock Band 2 - $60
- Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Banjo-Kazooie (XBLA) - $40
- Half-Life - $0.98
- Prince of Persia Sands of Time, Megaman Anniversary Collection, Sly Cooper 1, Blast Corps, 1080 Snowboarding - $50
Total: $296.98
I received GTA IV as a graduation present, bought the Blitz/XBLA/DLC stuff using a Gamestop gift card that I received for my AP scores/final grades, my friend gave me an extra copy he had of HL2 on Steam for free, got Rock Band 2 for my birthday and also received a $50 gift card that I used on Amazon to get the batch of Xbox/PS2/N64 games. So I only spent $80.98 of my own money on the 3 GTA games for PS2, the Banjo Kazooie deal, and the Half-Life 10 year anniversary deal.
Christmas will put a dent in my family's wallets since I'm looking into getting a PSP and possibly a few games.
The moral of the story is that squeezing out the gift card/presents advantage of being a kid, even at 18, is awesome.
I have a two game plan with gamefly so that's $22 a month. I've bought GTA IV, Rock Band 2, Gears of War 2, and I'm planning on getting Fable 2. All that plus next months bill from gamefly and I will have spent $504 by the end of they year. Without gamefly that could've easily been around $800.
I have probably spent way more then I feel I should have, so it's probably not a good idea. It's one of those things that is just better left unknown.I think it is wise for you to look at all your games and add them up.
