The graphics and the physics of those games would really have to blow minds to justify such a high rate. It wouldn't effect me that much though since I get most of my games from renting them from Gamefly. But if games were that high in price the renting rates might go up as well.
What would you think if games cost $70 for next-generation...
Same here, then again i don't think they would ever become the price. Unless every game was like a special edition that comes with extra shit.
I don't plan on even thinking about next gen for a while. This one is still going strong!
Hell, even when the 360 came out, I wasn't ready to stop playing on my Xbox and PS2. I waited almost 2 years before I got my 360!
But to answer the question, I would just do what I have been doing for years: wait about a year after games come out so that I get a deal on it. XD

"For me I would probably cut back or only have one system seeing all games now are mostly on the same platform."I'd rent a lot. But then again N64 games did cost $70 in the United States.
I'd be happy because, well, i'm presuming you are talking console games, in which case PC games (my platform of choice) would be like $40.
But if PC was included in the price hike, i'd be pretty annoyed and would cut down on buying games and download more mods for games i already own.
And when i eventually get a console (tends to be at the end of each generation..ish) the games would be a little cheaper by then.
I remember paying $74 for WCW vs nWo world tour for the N64 when the system was relatively new at a KB Toys. Rising prices should not be a problem as gamers get older and make more money...or at least I hope most of you are getting into careers that allow a budget of 70 or 80 dollars a month for a game.
I don't think game prices will raise again for a while. Consider that games were priced an average of $50 for many years; only this generation did the average price rise. And, hey, at least Wii games aren't $60 a pop.

Well by the time games prices do change again, the value of the dollar will have dropped even more significantly..
As a few people have said, we already get charged over $70 in Europe, with most games selling in stores at £50, which I think is something around $100, sucks, but its not so bad if you search around. I always type the game into google shopping and find the lowest price, im signed up to about 6,000 different shops, but I've saved a lot of money
