For me it was Arkham Asylum. I thought I was gonna get at least a cheap batarang that I could at least take off the pedestal but sadly that was not the case. After that I never got a collectors edition again.
What's the most disappointing collectors edition you have bought?
I was going to say Street Fighter IV, then I remembered Dead Rising 2 and then I realised the anwser to every single worst themed topic: Capcom.
I think the only Collector's Edition of a game I own is Splinter Cell Double Agent, which was pretty lame, but I also got it for $40 or something, so I didn't pay too much for it (I believe it was actually less than the regular edition at the time).

Yep, Dead Rising 2. Heres your ...pen? Yesssssss.
Pretty much all of them have not been worth the extra cash. Of the half-dozen or so collector's editions I've picked up over the years the only thing I've gotten any use out of at all is the duffel bag that came with GTA4. I swore off getting collector's editions after the disappointing Dead Space 2 package. I have learned my lesson.
Fable 2. Some of the games didn't have the DLC codes in the package so Microsoft had a setup a website for people to request their DLC code. They didn't have any way of authenticating who had bought the collectors edition so they gave codes to anyone who asked for one. On top of that, a couple weeks before launch, they dropped a bunch of the extras that were going to be in the collectors edition box.
Arkham Asylum. They changed the Batarang from metal to plastic without informing the people. (You can still dig up pictures of the original kit.) On top of that, they then changed it again from a clean plastic batarang to one that's all scratched up.
Anytime it's just a tin case an artbook, and a lazy, less-than-30 minute dev commentary disc. It feels so damn bare-minimum. Maybe I just like useless swag like my sackboy and fallout boy and my septum gold coin :\
Fallout 3: Survival Edition. The Pip-Boy 3000 was the cheapest piece of crap I've ever seen. I did like the lunchbox, though. Prince of Persia (2008) was also kind of lame. So lame, I don't even remember what it had in it. I was really bothered that the collector's box was cardboard.
I've never bought a collectors edition, with the exception of a few PSP games that came in bigger boxes and included a soundtrack.
Not a bad a deal, considering they cost the same as the regular edition.
Probably Modern Warfare 2 seeing as I was under the assumption that there wouldn't be so many game destroying glitches in that game and never thought I would stop playing 2 months after launch.
I guess God Of War 3, but that was still pretty cool. My favorite was New Vegas', I quite enjoyed all the extras.
You know, I want to say all of them. I bought the Hardened Edition of MW2. But really? An artbook for a Call of Duty game? I guess the download for CoD1 kind of made up for that. Dead Space 2 was kind of disappointing too because it doesn't come in a steelbook case or anything, just a cheap paper box. I do use the plasma cutter as a flashlight occasionally and play with it while I'm bored and just browsing around on the computer. The only good thing about the MGS4 one as the orange box with the cool box art.
Saints Row 2. I had no idea what it was when I picked it up shortly after launch for $20. Tossed it into the disc drive, completely hated it, put it on the top shelf and forgot I had it. But a new release collectors edition for 20 bucks isn't bad, even for a game you don't play. *grin*
Battlefield: Bad Company. A fold-out poster and videos that were already available free on the EA website. Yeah.

Half-Life 2. Cheap, flimsy box. Disappointing upgrade to the original Half-Life. Cheap t-shirt. Woohoo. I've bought a lot of collector's editions, but that was by far the worst.
Same. Glad I'm not the only one who was disgusted by this product. Don't remember the T-shirt but that sounds right. Huge cardboard insert with a cd case in the middle. OH BOY!
Since the game died shortly after, I guess it would be Tabula Rasa. My most anger inducing experience would be the time I bought the one for the first Bioshock that came with that kick ass Big Daddy statue. Mine came broken, and the cunts would only replace broken ones for people in the god dam US. Every one else they just told to fuck off. Still very pissed off at that.
Halo 3, if only because the disk is always rattling around in that damn case. Never stays on the spindle.

Fable 2. Holy crap, what was I thinking.
This.
Fable 3's was a little better. Unfortunately, that didn't make up for the terrible game part.
Halo 2. Was it worth the extra $10? No. Still, it wasn't that big of a loss. But man, that bonus DVD was like the most uninteresting and tragic video I've ever seen.
By the way, if anybody says GTAIV. they're getting beat up. There's your warning.
Bought so many crappy collector's edition. Definitely the biggest one was God of War 3, followed by Street Fighter IV and Resistance 2.
That Madden collector's edition that came with a copy of NFL Head Coach.
I think NFL Head Coach is the only game I fell asleep playing. I think it also came with early 90s Madden playbooks, which you remember why they don't have those in the game anymore
It might be laying somewhere with those night vision goggles and that Best Buy Gears of War 2 tank.
Fable II was pretty lame. Most of the reason I went for the Collector's Edition was for the Hobbe figurine, which they removed from the set shortly before release.
Hmm, I've bought very few collector's editions. The only ones I can remember were Bioshock 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2. Out of those, I guess the LittleBigPlanet 2 one was worse although I don't regret my decisions. The Bioshock 2 one came with a cool Vinyl Record, a music CD, a pretty thick artbook, and a couple of lithographs. I really like it, and I really liked the game too. Man, what a great set of stuff!
Well, in that sense, I think it served it's purpose well. Being one of the only good games on Xbox, it was always easy to find. I'm just talking about the multiplayer, though. That campaign was pretty freaking weak.Halo 2, I guess. The metal case seemed neat at the time, but now it just sticks out and makes me angry.
GTAIV
I use the box to keep aspirins, ibuprofen, etc. The soundtrack was pretty cool, I guess, but definitely not worth the extra money.
I've been thinking of getting the collector's edition of Mass Effect 3 for the DLC that comes with it. You guys think it's worth it? You think they'll just release it later for download?
Can't think of one, i'm usually smart enough to look at a package and think "All of this shit sucks and i'll never use it". Plus you save 20-40 dollars.
