I've been tempted to go back to playing WoW. But my problem is, with so many great games coming out for the 360, I'm not sure which one to play. I'm not good at playing two different games, I like to focus on one. I have both MW2 and AC2 preordered. So what do you guys think? Should I go back to playing WoW (I'll be starting a new character) or stick w/ Xbox Live?
WoW or Xbox Live?
I started WoW for the first time a month ago ( my 1 free month expires this weekend) and I cant beleive how hooked ive become. I lay the blame squarely at the feet of Brad Shoemaker. He talked about getting back into it around blizzcon and I decided to try it out.... Ahhh im going to die alone arent i?
If you pre-ordered MW2. You've already decided. Just admit it to yourself.
As for going back to WoW. Wrong crowd to ask.
Compared to the socially sophisticated people you'll meet on WoW?" WoW. Only mouth breathers play consoles. "
Yeah, keep telling yourself that. I don't want to get into a discussion about what's "more geeky". But yeah, it's WoW.
By a HUGE amount.
By a HUGE amount.
" @WinterSnowblind: WoW is a social game, so your point is kind of moot. What kind of social skills and interaction do you get when you play Sam and Max? Thats right none, you just sit there breathing out of your mouth clicking all over your screen looking for clues. I don't want to get into a discussion about who's "more of a geek", because you are choosing to have an arguement on a video game message. But yeah its you By a HUGE amount. "I thought we were comparing Xbox Live to World of Warcraft?
Also, this isn't an arguement, it's a discussion, and I'd thank you to lay off the personal insults. You can't pretend to know anything about me, and you're simply accusing me of doing something and insulting me for it, when it's you that's doing exactly what you're complaining about. Do you not see the irony?
For starters, I don't see where Sam & Max come into it. I know a lot of people at my college who use Xbox Live for playing a wide variety of games, it's not really considered something that's geeky. It's great fun getting together with a bunch of people and playing co-op online, you actually communicating with the others players with the headsets, and while you're always going to run into morons and annoying 12 year olds, it's generally fun. But sitting by yourself playing WoW in your moms basement for hours at a time, typing away on your keyboard? How does that equal a social experience? I'm not saying all WoW players are like that, but I certainly wouldn't call it a social experience.
Now don't get me wrong, there's obviously there are a lot of "geeks" that play on XBL as well, my point being that you can't really claim one is better than the other. Trying to insult other people for their hobby, when you do something yourself which is arguably much worse, is a little ridiculous.
Avoid WoW until Cataclysm drops late next year. There is no reason to go back and level a new character there until the expansion is out. Stick with XBL and Modern Warfare 2 as well as any other online multiplayer game found on the 360.
How can you choose between them? I don't understand. They're totally different.
One is a game. The other is an entire platform.
That's like comparing a DVD with a DVD player.
" @PenguinDust: Shouldn't I play right now to get myself prepared for the expansion? "No, the expansion is going to change the face of old Azeroth. I suspect most of the fun will be leveling early again since all the old routines of leveling up will be gone. By not jumping in at 80, and instead starting from zero, you will be able to enjoy much more of the new content. Sure, there is the level 80 to 85 stuff, but you'll get there soon enough. By the time Cataclysm rolls around, the amount of time it takes to get to 80 will be even less than it is today. And today it's about a third of what it took me 3 years ago. There will be lots of folks working their Worgan and Goblins up in the new zones, too. I suspect it will be a lot of fun again for a while. What's nice about expansions is that there are always returning folks running around looking for groups. My suggestion is to be patient, enjoy other games because WoW will always be there.
Yes. You will." I started WoW for the first time a month ago ( my 1 free month expires this weekend) and I cant beleive how hooked ive become. I lay the blame squarely at the feet of Brad Shoemaker. He talked about getting back into it around blizzcon and I decided to try it out.... Ahhh im going to die alone arent i? "
OT: Wait until Cataclysm comes out, the game world will essentially be completely changed, and it might give you a better opportunity to meet up with other newbs, or experienced players who will roll alts to see what the new starting content and areas will be like. Keep your live account for now, would be my advice.
I had both, but I didn't get into WoW, never got hooked. It's best
just to stick with the Xbox & get better bang for your buck. For
instance I paid full price for Fallout 3 on release last year, but
I can switch to other games. This year I switched between
Star Wars: TFU, GTA IV, Shadow Complex, Too Human, &
a few other games.
I don't like being stuck on one fuckin' game 4 life.
xbox live definitely. you get a better online community, aand its a better use for your money because you can play more than one game online. and its cheaper too. @JellyFish_Gsus said:
" @DER said:and do what they say they know whats up haha"do not play wow, ever "What he said "
Buy them for PC and save your self the monthly charge to play a part of the game that should be free. You pay your $60-$70+ then actualy pony up more just for the privilege of playing it online? Each there own but me i have other things i like to spend money on.
Xbox Live is really so much better once you make a dozen or so friends. That way someone is always online waiting to play with you :-)
i find myself juggling this very problem. and more often than not wow wins. both are fun, just pick one and enjoy!
wow is the cheaper option by far so thats something to consider.
xbl costs money plus to utilize it you must buy games (sounds like your buying some new 60 dollar games which gets expensive)
If your experiencing wow burnout its not worth trying to go back. But if your getting that wow itch then I'd say go for it, and save some money at the same time.
Mehhhh WoW is such a subpar mmorpg :-/ personally id go for xbox live, it allows for a more convenient play schedule, simply because there is no schedule, but when you play WoW youll constantly get bitched at for missing raids and youll eventually have to put WoW before your friends, it may seem pretty ridiculus, but trust me man it happens to EVERYONE. Please go for live, or start investing in a powerfull pc.
