Everyone's got a couple of these, but please, try to keep it to just one game. Also, if you post in this threat you should try to investigate a game or two that others have posted, because really, that's the point.

For me, it's Aquaria. This video says it better than I could:

It's a Metroidvania style underwater game, and it's got more than a few things in common with Zelda and Ecco the Dolphin.

No One Lives Forever
I realize quite a few have played this game. But it is one that is often over looked. Especially now that older games are missed out on a lot when everyone is just always highly anticipating the next big release. It was a shooter with a dialogue tree. I mean, what? Who did/does that? No one! Especially since the writing was well done and it was funny too. The gameplay was great too, even the multiplayer was a ton of fun.

So yeah, maybe not a "no name" game that no one has played, but a game often overlooked that I loved that probably a lot have not experienced that should.

Dark Age of Camelot, a decent amount of people played it, but it wasn't a known game so I am considering it a game that no one played.

Just what I was going to post. I especially loved NOLF2, it's one of the best games I've ever played. It had great comedy that not a lot of games have anymore - I don't understand why it was overlooked. I mean, how many other games can you have a sword duel with a ninja in a house being sucked up by a tornado? That game was amazing. I wish Monolith would just make NOLF3 already.

The Darkness... I'm not sure on sales figures or anything, but I rarely hear it discussed. Sure, the shooting was crap, but ripping out hearts with your demon tentacles was awesome. It did a great job with atmosphere and the voice acting was superb. Also, the attention to detail (subway posters, etc...) and added extras (like calling the phone numbers) gave you the sense you were part of a bigger world. Oh, and nightmare WWI still gives me the creeps.

This would probably be a good start:

My top 10 games ever, in case that wasn't obvious already.

Secret Service: In Harms Way . Maybe not the best game, but the only one I can think of no one else really played. It's the first game I ever played that had some prettyy cool elements: Being able to shoot through walls and kill the guys on the other side, rag doll physics, tho they are pretty messed up but pretty funny, because they by no means worked properly, not sure if thats because my PC was so slow or what. you  could command your AI friends kind of. anyways its pretty cool i think :P

To be honest, I can't even remember the title of one of them, it was myst or something, and it was an action/adventure game where you fought by clicking on enemies. I actually loved the story, even though as I remeber the game got mediocre scores.

Another was Lords of Magic, specifically the special edition, loved that game too.

God Hand, I guess. It's one of my favorite PS2 games and it saddens me whenever people bring up Clover Studios but only talk about Okami and Viewtiful Joe (not a big fan of either of those games, but I might have to give Okami another chance seeing as I'm only 8 hours in...).

I'll have to mention Beyond Good & Evil as well even though a lot more people have probably experienced that game over time (hey, they even gave it away for free with cheese). Not sure if I like the direction the sequel is taking though, but hey, at least we're finally getting one.

Up until it started getting some limelight again due to the hype and release of Fallout 3 the original Fallout. Far too many people avoided the first and went straight to the second because some pissant told them it was the better of the two.

It might be better functionally (item management between friends and an option to actually push a character out of the way was a life saver for me) but most definitely not an overall better game. Personally I think one should play both in the order they were released, they wonderfully complement each other.

@ADDTasty: I wanted to like Aquaria so bad, and to a degree I did but those several issues I had with it ultimately won and I never did end up finishing it. Good game though all things considered.

@Almak: It was most definately rushed (Fallout 2) and it shows horribly, I still loved it, but its also easy to tell some of the key creative influences were missing.

But still, people seem to regard it as the better game which makes me sad. The first will always be my favorite and I will always regard it as the better game.

May be its due to a tendency of people to think that bigger is always better? After all Fallout 2 was a bigger game, all things considered. But I agree there was a lot missing from it. Just looking at the feature list of the Restoration Project mod I cant help but be amazed at how much content never actually made it into the game. I suppose I also prefer the first Fallout to its sequel if for nothing else than for the fact that the "lone hero" theme is much more cohesive in it.
I lost count of how many times I played the game.

sadly i would have to say Silent Hill 2. I know a lot of people have played it compared to some other titles mentioned in this thread, but it never got the attention it deserved.

Hmm, I dont think that many people have played Fur Fighters. I loved it. Its a first person (well technically third person) shooter-platform-puzzle game by Bizzare. Kinda like mario 64 and banjo kazooie, only very different.

Golden Sun, an amazing RPG

The World Ends With You, another amazing RPG.
The Darkness, probably has one of the best stories this generation.
Too Human, while it has its flaws, it's still a really fun game.
Condemned, a great series of games, thought Condemned 1 > Condemned 2.
Lost Odyssey, best console JRPG this gen period.
All The Phoenix Wright Games.

Freedom Fighters and Gladius. I love both those games and must have beaten them at least half a dozen time each when I was younger. Makes me sad that I'll probably never get to see a current gen sequel to either.
