Bioshock Movie in Limbo
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! everything that i want in a Bioshock movie!!
I have high hopes for the film, since, unlike every other video game movies, it is based on a great game with a great story, one that, unlike Halo's, is easily adaptable to film. It also has an actual good director(aforementioned Verbinski) heading it and a great screenwriter(John Logan) writing the adaptation. This could finally break the mold and show that video game movies can be good and possibly great.
:O! Total shock! Who would've thought that a game based heavily on Atlas Shrugged would end up in development hell when the movie was being made :P?
"I hope the movie never sees the light of day. I hate Verbinski, as he's yet to make a good movie (The Ring remake? PIRATES OF THE CRAPIBBEAN?). Getting someone far more acclaimed and visionary for the job (Ridley Scott comes to mind quickly) would be more worthwhile."Great directors have shuned away from video game adaptations because of they have always ended up being terrible. Unfortunately with the lack of the good directors wanting to do them, that means that bad directors get to make the movies and they continue to end up being terrible, thus continuing the ficious cycle. In order to get quality directors into making adaptations, there has to be at least one good movie that will show that a good/great video game movie can be done. BioShock has the potential to be this movie.
please dont get made, please dont get made, please dont get made! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT'S HOLY PLEASE DON'T MAKES THIS MOVIE! Bioshock great game! but hollywood will turn it into a mindless action movie with no plot. Which bioshock was anything but.
Any video game based movie that has the potential to be great is Bioshock or Metal Gear series.
Anything else is a wast of time.
Hollywood is the only industry that can say "will not become another Halo" with a straight face.
I hear Prague is popular for movies. And unfortunately they're very familiar with flooding.
Honestly though, Bioshock has an amazing setting. The movie could and CAN be done properly if, tthey get a decent actors and a proper director to shoot it. The thing with a movie like that though is that it would be really CG heavy. Come to think of it, I wouldnt mind a really well done Real D CG Movie, the thought of you in the sub going into rapture with the whale and all that in 3d and a big daddy lunging his drill at you in 3d, that would be some pretty badass shit right there.
I hope they don't make it. I like Bioshock a lot; too much to watch it being turned into a mediocre movie.
As for Verbinski's involvement, if the narrative quality of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies is anything to go by, he's the wrong man for the job.
i read about this last week on joblo, the director is still very serious about this and says he will not let this turn out like the halo movie. and dude, he's an awesome director for this, he couldnt be more perfect amirite?!

This has every right to be a great movie! Someone needs to make it happen and I trust it more in Gore Verbinkski's hands than in the likes of Uwe Boll etc.
Having said that, I thought the same thing about Silent Hill, and look how that turned out... Average in every way except in the visual dept
a halo movie would have been crap because halo in itself was a great big in-grown turd, and bioshock would make for a great film. (they probably would get jason statham to play the protagonist seeing as he already has no emotions) :D
