What a great response from a PR person. 

I didn't make the connection until people pointed it out.

I mean, we've got tons of games that are similarly named and themed:
Street Fighter, Streets of Rage, Final Fight: Street Wise
Phantasy Star, Final Fantasy
Secret of Mana, illusion of Gaia

It seems like a convention of the medium to me.

The name is where Activision goes too far; someone could easily mistake it as being part of the same series. Shameless.

Cooking Mama has SEARED Science Papa for 100 points.
Science Papa suffers from UNSATURATED POLYMER FORMATIONS for the next 2 turns.

Yeah pretty shitty tactic by Activision. You'd certainly mistake it as a title by the same developers, and it stops Majesco from doing their own spin offs which they probably did plan as it will seem they're the ones doing the rip off then... Engineering Uncle? It doesn't have as good a ring to it...

Cooking Mama is a spotlight-hogging bitch. Who knew?

At this rate Activision is becoming the new EA. I guess thats what happens when you become too big.

I want Activision to buy Majesco and then make a crossover game with Science Papa vs. Cooking Mama in a fight to the death. This should all be viral marketing.

Activision are a bunch of tools. Blizzard and Infinity Ward need to get away from them and fast.

Tell you what, calling it Science Papa was a straight dumb move by them.  They should call it something else, then leave it up to all of the rest of us to come up with explanations and clues as to why the thing is getting a bit too close to Cooking Mama.  As it is, they're putting it in the TITLE.

A science game would be great; I'm disappointed that they decided to jeopardize its credibility with a silly title.

I don't see the problem. What if Science Papa ends up being a better game? If Majesco had plans to make a game like this, they could have patented it. And, what if they had patented it and sat on it for years and years so that no game involving science and papas could ever be made?

Yeah. Majesco tends to respond to these things as Mama herself. They've done so with PETA in the past. I'm personally much more interested in the backstory the PR folks are creating for this character. Cooking Mama is married? To whom? She dated Science Papa?

In all honesty, I thought Science Papa was from Majesco also and of the same brand.

Majesco wins.

All press releases would be much more entertaining if they were written by the games' characters.

That picture reminds me of that family guy episode with Albert Einstien smashing the oven on gods head for the animal cookies, only just replace God with cooking Mama.

I'll just wait until they have a Chop Shop Uncle, where you have to take stolen car parts and make Shifty cars and sell them to people who don't know any better.You also have to find ways to smuggle coke into the cars without being caught by the cops, all the while your drinking malt liquor talking about the "olden days".

If I was in PR thats how I would be responding. They can't really do anything about it through legal means, best to keep the response lighthearted and hope that it gets word about about your own game.
