Which one of these Disney films is your favorite? They were made during 1989-1999 which is known as the Disney Renaissance. All these films hold a special place in my heart. I was a kid during the time and these films were just amazing. And I still love them!

Which are your favorites? Here are mine:

1. The Lion King - It wasn't hard to pick my number 1. Its easily The Lion King. I think the story has some really mature themes for a Disney such as revenge, death etc. It also has maybe the most awesome opening ever! The animation is incredible. I love the songs, except "Can You See The Love Tonight". Seriously "The Circle Of Life" deserved the Oscar. The soundtrack by Hans Zimmer is like the icing on the cake.

2. Aladdin - The reason I love this movie so much is probably because of Genie. Robin WIlliams was just hysterical in this film.

3. Tarzan - I know this film has its flaws but I still love it. I really like the Phil Collins songs. The animation in this movie is just jaw-dropping. The Deep Canvas technology they invented for this movie works so well!

I picked Beauty and The Beast but The Lion King and Aladdin are also high up there with Hercules not far behind.

Little Mermaid gets my vote today, but it sometimes flip-flops between that film and Aladdin.  Great music in both.  There was a similar poll like this only a month or two ago.

The Lion King and Mulan get my vote. Uncle Scar was awesome, so were his little companions.
"Make mine a Cub Sandwhich."
"Hey, did we order our food to go?"
"No."
"Because there they go!!!"

The Beauty and the beast is a fantastic movie and one of my all time favorites, definitely that one.  Tarzan, Hercules and Mulan are up there as well.

The lion king. I find all of the other ones from that time period very average. I'm a much bigger fan of Disney's older stuff. But The Lion King is a masterpiece.

The Lion King had the biggest impact on me at the right time. I hold so much nostalgia for that movie it's insane. Probably the most well-rounded Disney movie. Great action, great characters, great soundtrack, etc. Not to mention probably the Greatest movie to game adaptation EVER IMO. If you've never played The Lion King for the Snes, go check it out, one of the most underrated platformers ever.

Aladdin narrowly edges out The Lion King for me. I think Aladdin had better musical numbers, and the Lion King's presentation feels disjointed in places.

This was a really hard decision, in the end I voted for Hercules. I used to have a costume when I was younger, so it's quite a nostalgic movie. Also, I think that The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a terribly underrated movie!

In theory, the Great Mouse Detective could have been added to the poll since that was the 1st movie they did which featured some of the new technology later put into wide use in the films above.  The whole CG clock tower scene was something they'd never done before, but that style of shot showed up in many of the later films.

I have never heard the term "Disney Renaissance" but in this case it does really categorize it well. The Lion King for me because it really is one of the best animated movies of all time, PIxar included.

Aladdin. The music was so sick and I loved the characters. My favorite Disney movie and probably the only one I recall the most of.

I picked Aladdin but all of those are pretty good. You put any of those movies in the DVD player (and I do own all of those) and I'll probably sit down and watch it.

I picked the Lion King, but the fact that Beauty and the Beast is so low on that list is a travesty.

I have fond memories of this old school Aladdin game for Game Boy I had... so that's definitely up there, but Rescuers will always be a favorite. And I find it appropriate to mention that I have the original VHS case for the little mermaid with the towering penis atop the castle. XD I should take photos for proof, right? Yeah.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame, by contrast, is the worst animated Disney movie I have ever seen in my life.

I remember newspapers saying Hunchback might be too dark & scary for lil kids, despite the G rating
and this is the squeaky clean Disney version of the story!

(not to mention what I remember as a very fun Burger King promotion that summer ^^)
