I could be wrong, but if you right click on the desktop there should be an option you can uncheck under "View". "
You can get rid of it, you need to write a script to do so though.
@Sammichman: I extended each side about the same amount with crop and just clone stamped the yellow parts on each side then when I set the wallpaper I just set it to fit to screen.
I have two displays, with the one on the left used as my main one for all my gaming and schoolwork and such, and the smaller monitor (the satellite monitor, if you will) used for less important things like instant messages and such. It would look much sweeter if I did not have my widgets on there, but I like to have some information at my fingertips at all times. Especially during Woot-Offs. The concept used to be even cooler looking when I had the monitor with the moon mounted higher than the one with the Earth, but that wasn't practical, so they're level now.
Here's my desktop, image is low-res from a Print Screen and the desktop files aren't quite as organized as I'd want to, but I am quite fond of my good 'ol desktop.
Great to see somebody else has OnLive! It's surprisingly functional. I won't ever use it for day to day gaming, but it's cool to just check out from time to time. When they have a better selection, I'll take it more seriously.
@DanielJW: my desktop is normally clean. the only time it's cluttered (as shown) is when i'm working on a video. at that time i can't move any of the files so it makes my desktop super cluttered ; ;
Still all the way black with a single-pixel middle grey outline so I can tell where the pf the screen are even in darkness. 1920x1200 for primary center and 1280x960 for the second monitor to the right which holds the task bar (auto hide on bottom).
I know it's a car but at least a good one
