NY Passes Gay Marriage Bill

Yay. I live in NY so I'm feeling very proud right now, and I hope other states follow.
 
What does everybody else think?

Wasn't NYC always pro-gay marriage?

I think it's incredibly stupid that this is something that needs to be passed. It should be legal/allowed/acceptable everywhere.

Was it due to pressure from Queens? I believe I'll help myself to a rimshot.

I think he means that it shouldn't have to be something you debate. It should just exist. Either way it too way too fucking long.

I was just confused by the fact that "he wasn't aware" you might think that it shouldn't be debated, but I would hope you know that it is.

Prop 8 is extremely stupid and hopefully is repealed.

No matter how I stretch my brain, I can't, for the life of me, think of a reason to be against this...

Hopefully this equality can spread throughout the rest of the states.

The heterosexual divorce rate should be evidence enough that everyone and anyone should have the right to mess up their relationships. If all those people are willing to insult a supposedly 'sacred union' by divorcing all the time there's no reason to deny anyone else the chance.

Marriage means a gamble according to Persona 4, even though nobody else says it.

You say that now but go back 20 years. Go back to the 1960s and see what changed, go to the 1920's and see what changed.

I'm happy this has happened, but I'm always a bit iffy on these things unless voted in by the actual voters. You cannot force acceptance, let alone tolerance. We need to change the minds of people who would otherwise vote no. I realize that sounds rather difficult, but it's worked magnificently with smoking. What was once a cool thing to do is now seen as disgusting.

So excited to see NY has done the right thing!!! Can't believe gay marriage is even an issue. Years from now we'll look back on this and be ashamed of the intolerance toward it. This is a huge step in the right direction!

I just always love the hate mentality that being gay spreads. The worried Father who loses sleep that someone is going to make his son gay. Its REALLY sad, but also a bit funny that those ppl are out there....

It's easy to think that is wholly bigotry, and sometimes it is. You cannot fault them, though, for being disappointed or even apprehensive that their children may not continue the family line with their own children, whether it is because of them being homosexual, never marrying, or being barren it makes little difference. Sometimes a family legacy is a big deal.

I have no opinion on gay marriages.

One more step to the idea of equality for all. No matter the gender, race, sexual orientation, or anything else. Time to celebrate

So is this a 'Marriage' act or is it one of those "Completely-identical-to-marriage-but-not-called-marriage" things? Because I support the latter but not the former.

Why? "Marriage" isn't sacred. It's a completely contrived concept that's sullied by millions every year.

It will be a long time before Gay Marriage is passed here in Alabama. And I'm fine with that.
