  *Sigh*
1. There has never been a single Marijuana related death EVER. IE No one has ever died of a Marijuana  overdose because that is impossible.
2. Knowing that it's harmful doesn't make it addictive. Fail logic much.
3. You could ask the same about alcohol. Why drink if you know it's harmful?
4. Again repeating myself, NOTHING CHEMICALLY INSIDE OF MARIJUANA HAS BEEN PROVEN TO BE ADDICTING.

Your logic makes not one bit of sense.

No need to get pissed, not everybody knows everything there is to know about a drug.

@MrAwsum: yes, much like in Amsterdam it is illegal to smoke in public, it could be the same here. and plus that whole "Contact High" thing is bullshit anyway, if i am outside smoking weed, and you are standing next to me, you wouldn't get a buzz. And for the record, i am against banning smoking tobacco in public.

I'm only 19 sir. If it were legal there would be no way of getting it considering it would eliminate drug dealers from selling it. Since it is still illegal, YES it is very easy to make a single phone call and get it.

I said that if you believe it's not addictive, why smoke it?.. you know one day it's just going to fuck up your mind.
And just because no-body had died of Marijuana,  doesn't mean their life wasn't messed up due to it?

Not pissed, just trying to negate some of the common ignorance or a drug. I'm sure if you were passionate about something you'd get a little bothered when people continue to say falsities about it. Its like if videogames suddenly became outlawed for no reason, wouldn't you feel a little angry about it, when you know there is nothing wrong with it. Again it is JUST a plant people.

 I always get a little upset by people who respond to this question with statements like "Well, I would never smoke pot because it makes you lazy and stupid, but people have a right to be lazy and stupid so let the idiots have their way."

It's called a stereotype. I'm not going to deny the existence of lazy or stupid stoners because lazy and stupid people are more likely to use drugs in general and stereotypes exist for a reason. But when you come out with a holier than thou attitude entirely based on stereotype like that it makes me hope you die in a fire.

Next time you make a blanket statement about stoners, imagine if someone said the same thing about women, or Canadians, or African Americans. Pot smokers are people too and deserve respect.

I would prefer it to be legal to where it can be controlled for safety and taxed, which in turn will help remove drug dealers from communities that get people hooked on harmful drugs.

Yes they are people to, but why should they get my respect? They're making a stupid choice. So if I see a pot smoker, I should say to him "Hey, you're cool. You smoke marijuana. Much respect."?

Make it Legal,
That way there'll be a bunch of stoners in the store at the same time, and that is when we pop a grenade in there to say "hello"

I've never used it, but I see no reason for it to be illegal.  If you can smoke, which offers no benefits, why can't you smoke weed?  Alcohol is legal isn't it.  Alcohol is way worse than weed.

@MrAwsum:  I'm not forcing them to watch it, i don't have their eyes clamped open Ala' Clockwork Orange, I dont  go blowing my cigarette smoke in peoples faces. But its like this, if i am at school, or at the bar, or hell at an amusement park, and i want to smoke, i should be able to. Plus  I see things i dont want to see every day, like when the local churches drive vans with pictures of aborted fetuses on the sides through the middle of downtown, life is figuring out how to deal with things that bother you..and for smoke? its easy, you walk away from it.

Why do anything? I like to smoke because of many reasons. NOT because of  " it's going to fuck up my mind." Not because its illegal, that would be a VERY immature reason to do something (just because it's "bad") If anyone's life was messed up due to Marijuana it is there own fault. I smoke and I think I am a pretty normal functioning person in society. I don't do drugs, i don't drink, I go to college, and I work. I'm not screwed up because I choose not to let something run my life.

@MrAwsum said:

Oh I'm glad you asked that. Where do I begin.
1. Marijuana is the largest cash crop in the United States. If we legalized and taxed it, would become a billion dollar industry and surely help out our troubled economy.
2. Hemp. We are the only country on earth that does not utilize its resources, which is completely insane considering it does not produce any of Marijuana's effects. Smoking it would just be stupid. It's like comparing a Chihuahua to a Great Dane. They are both species of dogs, but completely different in biological makeup.
3. It's not all about me, I want to keep kids under 18 away from it. when you aren't an adult you can do many immature things with marijuana and until you are educated about it's effects you shouldn't have the right.
4. It would clear out our jails. We have millions of inmates due to this silly drug, when we need the room for the real criminals.
5. Drug Dealers. Drug dealers wouldn't sell it anymore because it wouldn't be economically viable. Meaning they would only sell the harder drugs (heroin, meth, etc.) Then the police would have a real war on drugs and a real menace to catch.
6. Medical use. Marijuana has been proven to have hundreds of medical uses (cancer, glacoma, etc.) Why take away a drug that helps so many people when a drug like Oxycontin (legal) kills thousands of people every year. Makes no sense.
I could go on and on, but those are just a few reasons why think the legalization would BENEFIT our country.

That's the one thing you got out of his post? He made a good point. There's plenty of stuff I don't want to see coming from the outside. When a religious fanatic comes by with a megaphone screaming you're going to burn in hell for your sins why should I be forced to listen to that? The man has a permit to do it, what's the problem?

Legalize it. I see no difference between someone who smokes weed and someone who drinks alcohol. Both parties must use discretion when it comes to driving.

It's been decriminalized over here in Massachusetts, but they're trying to pass laws now that would raise the fine from $100 to $1,000 and another law that would force you to hand over your ID when a cop catches you with under an ounce on you. I sure as hell hope these don't get passed.

@Dr_Feelgood38:  Personally, I think thats just as wrong, and half the protesters and religious people don't get a 'permit' to do it, but it's a much harder subject for police to handle as it could offend the people, arresting somebody for having faith is a completely different argument.
I'm completely against drugs and I hate walking past people who smoke tobacco, let alone weed.
Also I think my point was very valid with the case were talking about.

Well here in the Netherlands it's pretty much legal.

Doesn't change much, don't really see the fuss about it. Here it's actually becoming a problem because we get tourists from all over the fuckin world blowin themselves to other dimensions. Now you might think tourists are a good thing but the tourists I'm talkin about are uberstoners and the like uuuuugh....  And anyone claiming the stuff doesn't have any weird affects on your health clearly have never seen hardcore blowers. They turn in these like slow dimwits, it's sad really.

I actually wish they'd bann it again so R-tards don't 'blow their minds' on it. Not cause I care so much, it just annoys me............... Fuckin stoners all over the place.....

For medical use, some people could benefit from it. But other than that i don't give a poo. Smoking is disgusting, no matter what ingredients are used.

I wouldn't really care, it doesn't affect me in any huge way. Though if I began to smell marijuana, everywhere, then I'd probably be a little more towards the keeping it illegal side of the argument.

Legalization for taxation = good idea
Legalization to shut whiny stoner faggots up = epic fail

Personally, I do not think that it should be available for personal use, but licensed for medical purposes, such as sufferers of MS and the like, but I don't believe that it should be for public consumption - the dangers, IMO far out weight the positives.....

The number of drug deaths in the US in a typical year is as follows:

    * Tobacco kills about 390,000.
    * Alcohol kills about 80,000.
    * Second hand smoke from tobacco kills about 50,000.
    * Cocaine kills about 2,200.
    * Heroin kills about 2,000.
    * Aspirin kills about 2,000.
    * Marijuana kills 0. There has never been a recorded death due to marijuana at any time in US history.
    * All illegal drugs combined kill about 4,500 people per year, or about one percent of the number killed by alcohol and tobacco. Tobacco kills more people each year than all of the people killed by all of the illegal drugs in the last century.

well, not directly due to MJ exposure, but what about driving under the influence, I will say, with a fair amount of certainty, that there have been deaths directly attributed to MJ overuse, such as driving under the influence and causing a crash etc.... it happens over here and will defo happen in the US.

People come up with all these things about how weed makes you stupid and such, but really I think it's just the demographic of kids that weed attracts are all the losers who will end up working at a movie theatre the rest of their lives.

I have some crazy smart friends (I mean biochem, pre-med people) who smoke. They don't say anything like  "Let's get baked and watch Family Guy all night!" or anything. It's more like "We've got some work to do, let's chill, smoke, and play some music while we study."

They do well for themselves *cough*straight A's*cough* so I'm not one to think it makes you stupid unless you already were before you started.

Weed should be legal, there will be less crimes when no one is selling it and getting high. The only thing wrong with that is ppl will get overly hungry and eat everything in the fridge.
