Mine has to be A New Hope, although I like Empire and Return.
What about you guys?
And I have a question about A New Hope.
Is Obi-Wan a ghost?
I mean, he just disintegrates when he gets struck with the lightsabre.
Whats your favorite Star Wars film?
Empire is my favorite, I randomly find myself watching it once a year. Its just so good and dark compared to the rest of them
Attack of the Clones, the romance scenes between Padme and Anakin had me shedding tears. Absolutely beautiful
" Eh, Empire is always at the top. I liked Episode 2 though, I just love the clone troopers. So cool. "No, the tender love story is what you really like, you can admit it.
Empire for sure. Im also a fan of return of the jedi...still though empire always gives me that depressing feeling that I love so much
Revenge of the Sith. Shoot me... I like all the old and newer ones (to an extent) but I liked the third the best.
Reasons why the prequels aren't better than the originals.
Oh, if for some reason you haven't seen any Star Wars movies yet:
*** Spoilers***
- Jar Jar Binx, need I say more?
- The utterly stupid romance between Anakin and Padme. Sure, this had potential, but Lucas can't write romantic dialogue.
- Darth Maul had less character development than clone troopers in Ep 2 and 3.
- Darth Vader's "NOOOOOO!" at the end of Ep 3 was pathetic.
- Jake Lloyd, or the actor who played Anakin in Ep 1.
- Midi-chlorians, the concept of the force works best when it's ambiguous.
- While we all like lightsaber fights, it got a little out of hand in Ep 3.
- The lack of a strong, villainous presence(in other words, none of them held a candle to Darth Vader).
- Anakin was a whiny brat all the way through episodes 2 and 3.
- No definitive, iconic moment, like when Vader defeats Luke, or when Luke blows up the first Death Star. The only moment that comes close is when Obi-Wan cuts Maul in half.
" Empire Strikes Back "Thread winner. The reason the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi were the best is the series is because they were not directed by George Lucas. He is such a shitty director, plus he can't write decent dialogs to save his ass.
This thread should have been a poll.
It's a close call between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi for me, but I think Empire wins purely for it's climax.
Return. I can hardly give a crap about the Jedi stuff in any of the films though it was still awesome, but it was all about the space battles for me, and Return delivered.
Star Wars (don't call me episode IV) - Good lord this film astounded me as a child and I couldn't get enough of it! It was the first movie that I saw multiple times in the theatre and, being a rather small child, other humans always blocked my view so I had a habit of always sitting in the front row for quite a number of years.
It is the best, definitely. While the first is also very good (ROTJ is too but Ewoks hitting storm troopers with Rocks? Kind of missed the point. Though I don't dislike Ewoks like some), especially for the imaginations of the thousands of people that it captured and hooking into a need and want of something great at the time that it released in theaters, Empire just hit everything right. A sense of darkness, a sense of hope, sense of comradeship, our first truly great lightsaber fight, and so much more.
I don't know what the hell is wrong with me, but i enjoyed episode 3 the most. Really don't know what the hell is wrong with me.
A New Hope. When I first watched it on a rented VHS from the library it represented infinite possibilites to me. I couldn't wait to see the next two.
"You are part of the rebel alliance and a traitor...take her away!" What's not to enjoy?
The movies are easily ranked by the amount of involvement of George Lucas. The more people that interfered with his writing and directing, the better the movie:
1. Empire
2. New Hope
3. Jedi
4. Revenge
5. Clones
6. TPM
George Lucas is only good for concepts, scenarios, and marketing. He is a horrible desaster in everything else.
Mesa like Jar Jar binks. Mesa gonna votsa fur dem pitty dunk moopin episodes one, da phantoms mensta.
