    I predict bad framerates.

But really, this looks neat. I'm looking forward to the day that this facial animation technique is used in a game with slightly more pleasing visuals.

maybe this game will be good unlike heavy rain O:

and the serious tone that rockstar switched to probably works for this game.

Man that looks pretty good. I read about this in Game Informer earlier this year and it sounds really interesting.
@FirePrince: You're thinking about Agent which is another Rockstar game coming out next year I think?

Isn't the protagonist modeled after Cosgrove from Mad Men? The likeness is uncanny.

Also, yeah, a straight detective game sounds right up my alley. Hopefully it'll be mostly about that instead of mowing down thousands of mobsters and gangbangers.

It is indeed him. I don't watch Mad Men, but isn't that his voice, too?

And yeah, this technology is awesome, but I know I'm gonna end up taking it for granted before the fifth mission. After that, I'm really hoping the game doesn't struggle with slow animations and buggy physics, as GTA IV In The Fifties doesn't really sound fun to me. (I hated Mafia 1, by the way).

@MooseyMcMan: But it's the best facial animation I've ever seen in a game (Heavy Rain's was just creepy). I didn't know there was any hype over their supposed technology. Like I said, it's too bad this couldn't be in a better looking game.

Agent is another game they announced at E3 '09 that is supposed to be a PS3 exclusive, L.A Noire was supposed to be a PS3 exclusive but I remember hearing that Sony had pulled funding because of the incredibly long development time a year or so ago.

More greatness from R*.  Getting away from the stupidity of San Andreas has been the best thing they've done with the GTA design.  Taking the framework and making great story-driven games has shown they grew up and can really tell a good story without the need for over the top antics.  I also like that they are going into genres that aren't overused and tired.  Just when you think the GTA design is played-out, they make something like Bully or Read Dead Redemption and floor you.

    @ShaneDev:
It's not a reference to LA Confidential. They are both taking inspiration from the same style of mob/detective movies

If the can do with the film noir style the same thing that they did with westerns, then I'm there

@HandsomeDead: Haven't seen many but perhaps a better thing to have said was that I hope they dont go overboard with the stereotyping. They tend to stereotype Irish people to a severe degree in Rockstar games despite their claims of realism.

I find it funny that games are finally starting to use facial animation that rivals the stuff Valve first did with the source engine in Half Life 2...6 years ago.

If this game is ambitious as they've hyped it to be, it'll be quite different than what most of you have played.  I'm sure there will be action sequences, but it seems like more of a thought provoking revolution in the adventure game genre.

If they can use that facial expression technology in the gameplay and make us determine whether someone is lying or knows something, that would be amazing.

This is an interesting game. Will this be a detective game or GTA where you play as a detective? Will you actually be looking for clues to where you should look next and who you should talk to or will you just be following markers on where to find clues and where to find witnesses aka the GTA style of gameplay. If they do the former, then I'll be intrigued by this game and will keep it on my radar.

Wow, that actually looks very exciting! I can remember hearing about it in the past, and forgetting it. With some of the technology Rockstar is using I don't think I will be forgetting LA Noire again. It's a game I actually cannot wait to get stuck into when released. A game where you play as a detective. Hopefully without becoming a borderline criminal and shooting everyone who wears a sharp suit or drives a nice car for almost certainly being members of the mafia.

An open-world noir detective game made by Rockstar? As much as I appreciate the gesture I would prefer it if they warned me in advance before READING MY MIND AND MAKING MY DREAMS COME TRUE.
