I predict bad framerates.
But really, this looks neat. I'm looking forward to the day that this facial animation technique is used in a game with slightly more pleasing visuals.
Game » consists of 17 releases. Released May 17, 2011
Man that looks pretty good. I read about this in Game Informer earlier this year and it sounds really interesting.
@FirePrince: You're thinking about Agent which is another Rockstar game coming out next year I think?
Isn't the protagonist modeled after Cosgrove from Mad Men? The likeness is uncanny.
Also, yeah, a straight detective game sounds right up my alley. Hopefully it'll be mostly about that instead of mowing down thousands of mobsters and gangbangers.
Left me underwhelmed I have to be honest.
The main chap looked a lot like Aaron Staton from Mad Men.

It is indeed him. I don't watch Mad Men, but isn't that his voice, too?" Left me underwhelmed I have to be honest. The main chap looked a lot like Aaron Staton from Mad Men. "
Looks interesting, but the faces didn't look all that great to me, despite all their bragging about facial capture technology.
Agent is another game they announced at E3 '09 that is supposed to be a PS3 exclusive, L.A Noire was supposed to be a PS3 exclusive but I remember hearing that Sony had pulled funding because of the incredibly long development time a year or so ago." @FirePrince said:

More greatness from R*. Getting away from the stupidity of San Andreas has been the best thing they've done with the GTA design. Taking the framework and making great story-driven games has shown they grew up and can really tell a good story without the need for over the top antics. I also like that they are going into genres that aren't overused and tired. Just when you think the GTA design is played-out, they make something like Bully or Read Dead Redemption and floor you.
" Looks damn good but I hope they dont go to heavy with the LA Confidential references, the Irish police chief is a little bit to much. "Watch more noir movies if you think that's a reference to L.A. Confidential.
" Is that Ken Cosgrove? EDIT: It totally is. Day one purchase confirmed. "Same here.
" im pumped! just hope they do go with a more story based game rather than "your a detective... now heres a gun". "If they can use that facial expression technology in the gameplay and make us determine whether someone is lying or knows something, that would be amazing.

Wow, that actually looks very exciting! I can remember hearing about it in the past, and forgetting it. With some of the technology Rockstar is using I don't think I will be forgetting LA Noire again. It's a game I actually cannot wait to get stuck into when released. A game where you play as a detective. Hopefully without becoming a borderline criminal and shooting everyone who wears a sharp suit or drives a nice car for almost certainly being members of the mafia.
An open-world noir detective game made by Rockstar? As much as I appreciate the gesture I would prefer it if they warned me in advance before READING MY MIND AND MAKING MY DREAMS COME TRUE.
