Lesson would be to not piss off 4chan but seriously it's minecraft, who is that upset on a denial of service that they'd go after that? It's almost like someone getting upset about not getting to sit down at one specific chair of a diner when you can just go sit somewhere else like the chair right next to it.
And asshats/hackers/internet pirates wonder why everyone & thier dog & the dog's chewtoys HATE them.
Hopefully the guy decides to take mincraft offline for a while to work on it until further notice while everyone finds the people doing this attack & sink them.

Minecraft Multiplayer Goes Down As Minecraft.net Gets Attacked
" Who the fuck would attack a game they like, because they want more content. Fucking idiots. "Typical self-entitled PC gamers. It's the same kind of mindset that lost their shit over TF2 hats or boycotted L4D2.
"UPDATE: A group that wants Notch to put out more updates for the game is claiming responsibility for the DDoS attacks in a 4chan post, according to Kotaku. It's impossible to tell at the moment if these guys are really the ones responsible for these attacks. Note: this group isn't claiming affiliation with 4chan."
That makes no sense! Let's attack him and hinder his progress because we want more updates? No way is that true. Fuck the 4chan idoits that claim to be behind it and fuck the assholes that are really behind it. God, I wish I could jump out of everyone's monitors and punch the entire internet in the fucking face! Or at least the assholes.
And fuck Kotaku for posting about a post on fucking 4chan, gross.

Let's attack him and hinder his progress because we want more updates? No way is that true.Considering that there are people who actually think like that ("They're treating us like animals! LET'S SHIT ON THE FLOOR!") I wouldn't be surprised if it is true. There are countless so-called fans of games, movies, comics etc. who would threaten celebrities. "We broke things you own because we want you to make more of what you do best. If you don't, we'll break more things until you obey us because we're your TRUE FANS and DESERVE EVERYTHING GOOD."
" People are assholes. Viruses, denial of service attacks... you'd think somebody with the brains to pull off such things would have matured out of the destructive for the sake of being an asshat phase of life. "Or at least attack those who deserve it, this guy does not.
" It sounds like someone is envious Minecraft's success. "Exactly what I'm thinking. This rumour that they've attacked it because they are annoyed at the lack of content doesn't make sense.
Has there ever been a target less deserving of DDoS attacks than the Minecraft servers? It seems like the technological equivalent of punching a kitten.
" Protip: Giving them attention is just fuelling the fire. Stop publicising it. "Seriously. Why don't people understand this?
" what the fuck is minecraft????? "Its a minesweeper clone.
Seriously, where have you been?
" @Rmack said:For real, though. (I just wanted to continue this chain of agreement because it looked like an inordinate amount of fun)" @RiotBananas said:I know right? "" Protip: Giving them attention is just fuelling the fire. Stop publicising it. "Seriously. Why don't people understand this? "
Instead of fixing the issues the hackers are pissed about, the guy is busy fending of their attacks. What a bunch of geniuses.
What ever happened to letting the creator of the game make the game as he sees fit? Causing him to rush updates will only hurt the quality of the game and piss even more people off.
I'd like to believe anonymous wasn't behind this, given the popularity of Minecraft on /v/. But chances are it is, and that fucking sucks.
It's the same thing as the griefers. A bunch of lonely guys who probably don't have much interaction with people in real life, and this is one way they can get reactions and attention. It's annoying, but also a little sad.
" This is a really silly attack. 'WE DEMAND MORE CONTENT! WE WANT MORE UPDATES! WE WANT MORE REGULAR MEDIA FROM THE SERVERS! AND TO SHOW HOW SERIOUS WE ARE, WE GOING TO MAKE IT SO YOU CAN'T ACCESS ANY OF YOUR SERVERS, SO YOU CAN'T ADD ANY MORE CONTENT OR DO ANY MORE UPDATES!" Dumb. "This.
" @Seedofpower said:i see!" Who the fuck would attack a game they like, because they want more content. Fucking idiots. "4chan, because ANON FIGHT SCIENTOLOGY RICK ROLLAN LOL EPIC "
Attacking a one man, indie project...good to see 4chan has it's priorities in order. What a bunch of fucking idiots. Way to completely miss the point.

You can't just say "Hey, these people suck so we're not going to publish this story"." @RiotBananas said:I know right? "" Protip: Giving them attention is just fuelling the fire. Stop publicising it. "Yeah I totally agree. I played a good bit of minecraft (but I hardly play it now) and the dumbass hackers that want more and more updates are just going to make the dev rush out updates that are not that great, and cause a lot of other people to get pissed lol!
So they attack even though:
A. The game isnt finished, he is only letting us play the alpha version to get the word out and get some cash to fund the development.
B.It is known that he has been hiring other people and finding and office. In fact he just posted this week that the team is now 3 programmers strong and with a pixel artist. And they also found an office, but just have to sign.
C.He post on his blog a week or so ago about a HUGE update coming out on the 31st with photos to prove he has been working hard on it.
What immature idiots. Most likely some 40 year old fat asses that live with their mothers and get off to this shit. They think they have such power, when all they are doing is messing with a video games server.
Wait, so is this group actually from 4chan? If it is somebody like anon or whatever then, unfortunately, they probably won't be uncovered at all.
Sad to see this happen. Minecraft is one of the coolest success stories to hit gaming in some time. Hopefully Notch recovers in full force.

" Attack the servers so Notch releases updates faster? So Notch has to spend more time getting the DDoS stopped and less time actualy developing the updates to release them faster? These kids are both stupid and scum. "Yeah, that gave me a good laugh. "We want more content so here's this massive problem for you to fix not related to more content!".
