It's kinda of redundant now with re-releasing or iterating new consoles every year with new hard-drives, no, kinda stupid. Sony's PS3 slim, despite having a bigger hard-drive than its previous iterations, made sense - better design from a development, technological, and innovation stand point -- but this doesn't since it's the same thing with a bigger hard drive.

It's also pretty safe to say, Microsoft will likely do something similar with the 360 and release a console re-design next year, along with Natal.

I think it would be safe to say that since Microsoft doesn't have alot of the same copyright issues they had with the Xbox(mainly internal functions) that we could possibly see a slim model in the near future (2010).
As for the question from Vundi, "So what are they going to do for the fans that have already pre-ordered the Prestige Edition of Modern Warfare 2 but still want the console, which from what I understrand won't be bundled with the goggles in anyway?"
That is true, and it's not even the hardened edition, just the plain old regular edition, so die hard fans that want both the prestige and console will either have to purchase both, or purchase one and try to get the other through eBay...I'm sure there'll be tons of them up on eBay. But, I'd suggest just buying both (if you have the money to spare) and reselling the regular edition that came with the console bundle. It is only the regular edition, so you wouldn't want that one anyway and if you sell it on or around the day the game's released, I'm sure you'll get the full $60 for it. Try going outside a Gamestop and selling it to someone walking into Gamestop for $55, I'm sure someone'd take it. Or find out if any of your friends want the game and sell it to them, shouldn't be too hard.
And, I've already pre-ordered mine, but I still have the regular edition pre-ordered just in case I decide to cancel. I'm just waiting to see what chipset these come with. I've had my Xbox 360 since two month's after they were released, (January 2006) and it's about time I get a new one I think. Although I did just upgrade it with a 60GB hard drive about a month and a half ago. But it is showing its age...have some weird picture issue's sometimes...looks like a V-Sync problem, but there's obviously no way to enable/disable V-Sync on a console...that I know of anyway. Maybe I'm just being needy though because my PC has such great graphics in games. But still, I do want an HDMI out as my console obviously doesn't have one (being from the first batch of 360's) and that'd be a nice thing to get as I'm just using an HD VGA cable at the moment.
Still, it's going to depend on what chipset it is, for me, so hopefully that information will be out soon. But I'm still debating if I should just hold off until the next generation of console's is released. I really don't wanna buy a $400 console if the next generation console is any less than 1-2 years away.
For me, the only thing that really interest's me in this package, is the 250GB hdd.
I could take or leave COD: MW2.
It just doesn't appeal to me anywhere near as much as most people.
I've got other games to play over this.
I think that 60GB is the lowest threashold though. It sucks that I got stuck with a 20GB because I am already full with only having 13 gigs avaliable to me from the get go, then having a few arcade games (3-5 maybe...), Battlefield 1943, some PGR3 and 4 DLC, Halo3 DLC, Forza DLC, CoD4 Maps. And other than saves and such, that is pretty muchly it, and I only have like 700 megs to work with...sad eh.
I still don't understand why they can't release something like a terabyte drive, or at least 500gb.
If you take your average 1Tb drive from newegg and DOUBLE the price, you'd have only a little more than what they're currently asking for the 120gb (it would be about $160)
There's simply no way the little connector, some power cords, and a plastic case is bumping the price up to $1/1Gb. Price gouging due to lack of competition. *sigh*

@zombie2011: /agree
I was planning on getting a new 360 anyway since mine is a launch console thats already red-ringed once and been repaired, and now is out of warranty and has a 2-red lights overheating issue if you leave it on for more than an hour.
I was gonna get the $299 elite but 2 controllers and a game I was going to buy anyway sold it. I'll assume this has the HDMI output and all the other Elite console goodness, too?
I agree with those saying the art looks kind of whatever. At the same time, it's not a terrible way to spend 400 dollars if you like the 360 and MW2. The chances of you being a fan of MW1, getting this, and being disappointed are pretty slim. It's a good hook for those needing a new 360. Hell, at least its not a launch 360. Are the new 360's red-ringing are no?
" @zombie2011 said:I would get one too but i'm not a call of duty fan. I thought they were gonna make a forza 3 bundle like this with the 2 controllers, 250GB drive and game. If they did i would probably pick that one up seeing i'm running out of space on my 20 GB." @RipTheVeins said:" @hilld said:Thats a great deal, "" So $100 for COD and some extra space doesnt seem like a bad deal. " @listerfeend: Hello there I'm one of these people. I have a flat screen tv that is HDMI capable but I don't own any cables. "HDMI cables cost $8. Buy one.
" @EndrzGame said:You're right, the same was said. But this is a limited edition console, not a part of MS's regular SKU's. Time will tell I suppose." According to MS sight the 250 gig HD will NOT be sold separately. "Pretty sure the same was said about the 120GB from the Elite. And the 60gb from the Pro. "
Damn that looks good, if i can round up enough money I might get one. I'll need a TV too here in uni lol...
Throw in the NVG for 50 bucks and they would have had me sold. Already paid for the prestige edition :( Damn you MW2!!
i am still rolling with my launch day 360, but am looking for an hdmi connection as well as a larger hard drive. 250 gigs seems like a sweet deal plus the game and 2 controllers? so awesome. hopefully i can scrape some cash together to pick this up and find a buyer for my old one.
