And now YOU get a klassic Ermac! And YOU get a klassic Ermac! And you? Yup, you get a klassic Ermac, too!

If you're anything like the men of Giant Bomb, collecting all those scattered pre-order bonus costumes for Mortal Kombat was, to you, a calling second to none. Jeff and Ryan, in particular, got into a particularly heated competition to try and earn my unused Scorpion code. Jeff frequently tried to entice me with promises of free shitty PSP RPGs that happened to be sitting on his desk. Ryan took me to a Go! Team show. I think we know who won out on that one--though to be truthful, I ended up keeping the code for myself. Ain't I a stinker?

All that bartering and begging ultimately was pointless in the end, as series honcho Ed Boon let it be known via his Twitter feed yesterday that the first DLC pack for MK would be a collec--erm, sorry, kollection of all seven klassic kostumes--for Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Ermac, Jade, Mileena, and Kitana--and the accompanying klassic fatalities--for Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile--would be bundled together into a single DLC pack. No pricing or release date has been announced for the pack just yet, though a trailer for the DLC is expected to drop tomorrow.

Boon likes to tease his Twitter followers with questions about what charact--okay, fine, "kharacters" fans would like to see as future DLC. Blind fighter Kenshi and a new female character named Skarlet are still slated to be the first ones released--with Skarlet apparently coming first--but Boon promises many more waves of additional kontent down the road. So don't worry if you're holding out for an updated version of Rain to fill out the last remaining color of the ninja rainbow, or just really want to play as Meat for some reason. Your day may yet come.

Good thing I didn't buy this stuff on ebay.

They really should have kept that Ermac thing exclusive to the Kollector's edition, though. It's only fair.

Where is my PC version?!!!!

#7 Posted by KarateLincoln (54 posts) -

It's hilarious that all the classic ninja costumes are just recolored models.
Ahhh, like the good old days.

#8 Posted by kerse (2100 posts) -

You kept the code after all that lol. You're mean.

Bundled with RDR PC and Episode 3 :'(

Ugh, I have a Ermac and Jade code for Ps3 but haven't been able to use them yet thanks to the PS Store being down.   Seeing as they are bundling everything these codes are now useless to me.

I'd like to be mad at  NRS for this but this is more Sony's doing then any fault of  NRS.

Its the T.O.R.N.A.D.O

Cool for them to do that, but I hope it's either free or dirt cheap.

PURPLE RAIN!

Hey Alex you missed an opportunity to use a k in competition near the beginning of the article. That said, I can't wait for this pack. Been wanting Scorpion and Sub-Zero's alternates and fatalities to go with the Reptile one I have.

#15 Posted by MisterMouse (3540 posts) -

good for them.

#16 Posted by zyn (2591 posts) -

Good on them!  Bundle all the DLC into one package; instead of buying each DLC separate.

MVC 3 and SF4 are much better

#19 Posted by gla55jAw (2686 posts) -

And now I call the people I sold Reptile, Sub Zero, and Ermac codes for $80, $60, and $25 a piece on eBay, respectively, suckers.

Silence! I don't want to buy a TV and a console for one game :( If it doesn't come out I will be playing MK Aracade Kollection and SSF4: AE on the PC!

Glad someone finally bought my Sub-Zero code on eBay last night.

#22 Posted by PrinceLeon (30 posts) -

As long as the price isn't insane I'm game.

Yeeessssssssss

#24 Posted by onimonkii (2429 posts) -

i hope they put out an MK3 costume pack sometime

#25 Posted by Mento (2438 posts) -

Any chance I could get one of those free shitty PSP RPGs? I dunno if I have any pre-order codes that unlock minor cosmetic changes to a video game on its eighth sequel lying around, so I would be trading something way less valuable if that's still cool.

I'm not buying anything DLC related till they fix the damn online component. I haven't played that much of it because it's lag-tastic every time I fire it up. It's sad too because WB and NRS were going on about how the netcode was fantastic and how great it would be. I don't have problems with any of my other fighting games, just this one.

So good! I've been tempted to pay like $10 a piece on eBay but wasn't sure if they'd work in my region. Now I don't have too!

#29 Posted by Sayishere (1838 posts) -

Lol, i made £80 ($130) selling my Reptile, Kitana and Sub zero pre order codes

Its pretty funny actually because i knew this would happen and DLC was inevitable . But thats life

If it's under $15, Capcom officially needs to stand up and take notice.

best post on Ed Boon's twitter:

RT @ steve_64 @ noobde but the psn store is still down! Noobde: It is? Then I guess this is the XBOX exclusive people have been asking for! ;)

#36 Posted by SuperSambo (2852 posts) -

I already have MK but I bought the Kollectors edition to sell the Ermac code. Combined with the sale of the game I would have made £££.

Not now...

#37 Posted by DonChipotle (2693 posts) -

I'll be getting the DLC because I like me some fatalities. But I so want MK3 Cyrax and Sektor.

#38 Posted by CuoreAzzurro (44 posts) -

Yeah! This is awesome. ... I was originally SUPER bummed out when they announced that they were going down the path of exclusive retail pre-order bonuses. But this is exactly how it should all go down post-release.

The "exclusive" pre-order content ... kontent, should always be something that is largely cosmetic and not integral to the experience. Then afterwards they can go ahead and sell it, because again, this is only for people that really want it. You're not missing out on anything if you don't buy it, and that's how it should be.

In any case, good on Netherealm studios.

#39 Posted by The_Nubster (2045 posts) -

I'm not dropping more than $1.99 on this. It's just costumes and fatalities, all pre-made and things that other people have. I hope that the DLC for this game is reasonably priced, not like some of the other recent fighting game DLC.

#40 Posted by TheBlackPigeon (314 posts) -
Cool.

Now let's hope they'll release Klassic Kostumes for the rest of the Kharacters.  Followed by the release of two of MK's greatest warriors, Jarek and Hsu Hao.
#41 Posted by craigbo180 (1739 posts) -

If the online becomes playable in ranked matches then I will get this, I really want classic reptile kostume.

#42 Posted by FoxMulder (1622 posts) -

Of all the Klassic characters I only really play as Kitana and I really don't like her current costumes.  I sometimes do Scorpion.  I will get this no matter what, they all look friggin kool!

#43 Posted by Bestostero (2758 posts) -

This needs to be free!

I still can't even redeem my preorder code from psn, so ill probably get them all first before i even get a chance to redeem

That made me let out an audible ha. Good job.
#45 Posted by Krakn3Dfx (2484 posts) -

Lol, sold my Klassic Kitana  PS3 DLC on EBay for $35, right after PSN went down, so the dude hasn't even been able to enter the code for it yet.

Now he'll be able to buy all of them for no doubt substantially less.

I almost feel bad.  Almost.

#46 Posted by cstrang (2381 posts) -

Sucks for Marino.  Didn't he spend like $200 on this game just to get all the preorder stuff?

Because this is news?  Do they really need to post weekly update listing a few songs from bad bands for a game nobody plays any more?

If anything worthwhile was added to the game, I'm sure it would be posted.
#49 Posted by mazik765 (2315 posts) -

Cool :) I already have the Mileena one from buying it at Wal-Mart but I'm a huge costume whore in fighting games, so this should be good.

#50 Posted by TheGreatGuero (9130 posts) -

Well I'm very happy about this. I'd gladly pay $5 for all that.
