Sony had a press briefing in Japan yesterday in which Kaz & Co were showing off the new motion controller, which has still yet to be given an official name and release date. (-my guess is they will December). Sony do seem to be showcasing the final design though, which I think looks great:

Motion Controller Final Design
" No directional pad/analog stick = fail. "
Well it said to use the DS3, but I expect Sony to have it's own equivalent to the Nunchuk down the line, but one that's actually wireless and USB rechargeable.
They may simply not be ready to show it right now. Due to natural ergonomic design, I expect it will look much like Nintendo's Nunchuk, and if that's the case there may be legal issues that need to be resolved. In the meantime, the DS3 will serve the new controller well enough.
...
I like how Microsoft and Sony are trying to copy the Wii at the same time as the Wii's sales are cooling down.

looks good, obviously you cant get rid of the ice cream look since the ball is the most important part of the controller.
now there a question of how developers will incorporate this in the future.
im holding off on getting this (and natal) until a game comes out that truly utilizes the hardware
If I ever find mine in the little box under the bed, I don't think I could use mine again, lol.
" @Asurastrike: when everyone has one, who do you sell it to? "56 million worldwide isn't everyone. But my point was that they are trying to copy the WIi. If I wanted motion controls I would have bought a Wii.
" If I ever find mine in the little box under the bed, I don't think I could use mine again, lol. "So you admit to having a little box under the bed?
Looks like a shaver with a lottery ball stuck on the top.
I still prefer Sony's motion controller over Natal, personally. I don't think I'll be getting either though, unless a lot of games start coming out to use it on. I don't think it's worth buying if it will only be used in a few games (and not just party games).

Of course. Almost every woman I've known has had a little box of tricks. ( although some do have an entire arsenal of weaponry ) I've found they tend to be located in either the top or the bottom of the bedroom closet covered by clothes, usually in a classy shoe box. Or as with my current girlfriend, in the drawer under the bed inside a Agent Provocateur box. Really paranoid girls will hide theirs in the shower room cupboards under towels, on the bottom drawers. I think they don't feel as comfortable with it as they should, so they only fiddle when they feel clean, hence why they're found in the shower room.. It's always fun playing hot and cold trying to locate them :)
Any good woman, will have one.

It would probably bounce of the TV screen by the looks of that ball. It will probably have one...
On another note, I happen to think this looks notably better than a Wii Remote with Motion Plus, in every way.

I like new technology to look distinct and have personality, for me this device has that. The Wii Remote on the other hand lacks that. In my eyes it's been designed to look like a conventional remote, so that, dare I say it, casual gamers feel more at ease with using it.
There's no denying it looks a little odd, but I wouldn't say silly. That orb at the end must surely be essential to how it works. As well as it seems to, I should add. Working in the design field myself, I cannot see any way in which Sony could have incorporated it any better, it's very hard to do being a spherical component.
In the future, design as a whole will be lending far more from geometry found in nature than what we see at present, so really, this device is ahead of it's time in terms of aesthetic design. It's also better ergonomically designed by the looks of things, you can tell that just by looking at the handle.
Don't get me wrong here, I love the Wii Remote, I just think this looks better from every aspect of it's design.
The glow ball will grow on gamers once they see how well the device works because of it.

" This is stupid. Motion conrtols are stupid. Also Natal is stupid. Everything is stupid. I hate you "Tell that to the Sony and MS shareholders that aren't getting as much money and the Nintendo ones (Wait Sony and MS have other income other than Gaming related stuff)
" I can just see hospital visits with motion controlled rectal blockage. "I fell on it" "I was bored" "Don't forget "It's a controller?!"
" I'll need to see this sucker in action. By that, holding it in my hand and seeing how it really works. I'm not worry about the aesthetics, if it feels fine and my hand and does its intention, I'd be a happy customer. "It's funny if you ignore the beginning part of this quote and take the highlighted segment out of context.
