Replaying Dead Space, the game still looks amazing! Visceral really was ahead of its time. Two more achievements to go!

Why would you want to stop? Don't you enjoy it anymore? Gaming has grown up since ye old days of Super Mario Bros. There are plenty games that handle mature themes and concepts, much like animation. Do you need to stop for any reason? If you use games to escape something to a point where it interferes with your life, then and only then should you stop until you get it back under control.

Front cover of Final Fantasy XIII (EU) for Xbox 360
Front cover of Final Fantasy XIII (EU) for Xbox 360
So I am now 10 hours into FFXIII and i don't really get what the hubub was all about. Sure it's very linear, but to me the Final Fantasies have always been linear in one way or another. This time you really get nowhere else to go then forward, but back in the day if you would venture off of the road you were supposed to be on the higher level monsters would punish you severely by 1-shotting you. But then again I am a very positive person looking for the best things in everything including videogames.

I like the battle-system in FFXIII. To me the grinding has been replaced with handling the battles strategically. The better you perform in a battle, the bigger your rewards, the faster you can level up your weapons and through Crystarium points. Fair and interesting trade-off if you ask me. The paradigm shifts are essential and Odin brought me down several times before I realized that i was losing because I didn't have one specific paradigm in my list. Which is the equivalent of not being able to defeat a boss in earlier Final Fantasies because your level wasn't high enough. The cool thing about this Final Fantasy is that it's all about strategy instead of outlevelling/outgearing the boss.

I also really like the stagger mechanic, it just emphasizes something I would already do in older Final Fantasies, namely Libra the enemy to find out it's weakness and exploit that. Now you HAVE to do that for certain enemies if you want to defeat them. There is a big difference in how the battles play out and their length depending on whether or not you stagger the enemy.

And the one thing I really like about the game is the way the story plays out. Maybe it isn't the most epic story (yet, i am 10 hours in) but I like the way they handle it's presentation.

In short, I am enjoying this game! And to add another bonus, I picked this game up new for 15 euros. That's a steal!

Maybe that's why I enjoy this game so much? Maybe I would've joined the pitchfork mob if I had paid 60 euros for the game.

Looks to be on the Blizzard-side of things since I have the same problem on Raptr. (for my account at least)

Xbox Live and Steam achievements are updating normally, while my WoW achievements don't show up.

Oh God, I picked up sooo many games during this year's Steam Sale.

Super Meatboy, already had this on the 360, but you just can't beat 4 euros. Neverwinter Nights 2, already had this one too, but IO basically bought the last expansion for 10 euros. Episodes of Liberty City, to complete the GTA IV already had. The HD version of Munch's Oddysee and Strangers Wrath, the Serious Sam pack, Toca Race Driver 3, the special editions of the Monkey Island games, Killing Floor, The Ball, Fallout goty edition, Crysis: Warhead, Amnesia, Altitude, Spore + expansions & Batman- Goty edition.

The 2 games I really am happy to have picked up at that price are Darksiders (10 euros!) & Dragon Age: Ultimate Edition (20 euros!) great value for those great games.

I remember being fascinated by Fantasy themed (role playing) games way back before I even understood what Fantasy was. I remember playing the original Final Fantasy at a friend's house and they were all wondering why  loved the game so much. Why watch 1 of 4guys walk forward and show his sword twice when you can play games like Super Mario Bros or Ikari Warriors or an other action-packed game. \

Besides my love of the fantasy theme, I had the whole battle play out in my head every time. I especially remember playing through Dragon Warrior (on my own, since my friends couldn't appreciate these types of games) and fighting the last dragon at the end. Back in the day it looked like this:

I really enjoyed that last battle, where I saw my character dodging and weaving while slashing at the dragon and blocking it's fiery breath. I specifically remember the phrase: Fireballs sprout from your fingertips, and I remember seeing in my head my character pointing his hand at the dragon as fireballs sped to my arch-nemesis.

I am so happy to be able to experience this fantasy-scene in my head come to live in games like Dragon Age and World of Warcraft and such. I haven't reached this part yet, but I came across a dragon-battle in Dragon-Age: Origins on youtube an this is exactly how I imagined these battles would be like back in the day. (minus the pausing of course:))

As I said before, I haven't reached that part yet but when I do...Man is it going to be sweet!!

I tend to go to IGN because their opinions can be so wildly different. That way i can see the differences and make up my own mind. if it was one aspect that GB loved while IGN hated i can quickly decide for myself whether or not that aspect will bother me or not. I also like cideo content, so I do visit GT as well.

Back in the day, blaster master! The way the music built up and when it finally got to it's full-blown midi glory is when you actually got to play.

Nowadays, Batman - Arkham Asylum springs to mind. The part where you're just walking along taking in the atmosphere

@drgrumbles: Oooh, nice. I like the way you display the game boxes. I got myself a dwarf warrior statuette as well and am planning to get an illidan statuette as well.
