I'm sure I'm going to get people yelling at me about how "language changes" or how "meaning is entirely in intent" but I think Total Biscuit is a shitty person, his whole thing with calling someone who (admittedly was being a jackass) a 'faggot' and then he refused to apologize for it and instead doubled down on his bigotry. I really think that if the gaming community is to ever banish the casual homophobia and misogyny that permeates it then we can't use people like him as role models. Before anyone decides to write back at me about how he "didn't mean gay people so it's ok" consider two things for me. 1) Why isn't meaning a dialogic process? 2)How many synonyms of homosexual are still used as slurs? How many terms for heterosexual are used as slurs?
While I don't like the word either (what the hell zaglis), I've listened to him for awhile and I don't think its the kind of word he uses often.
He probably just said it without thinking, and the person he called a faggot was doing something pretty fucking terrible (linking his paypal address in a chat full of people trying to donate money to a disabled kid).
Well, if more gamers were like him and had the actual conviction to not support things they don't like, then the industry would probably be in a more consumer friendly place. So I guess, sure. I certainly don't think hes a negative influence anyhow.
There is evidence that the invisible children group is damn shady. However, if one of the results of their shadiness is giving people awareness of the shit that happens outside their own country, well thats not so bad.
Lets hope those who have had their eyes opened a little bit won't just focus all their attention on this Kony movement.
What I take away from this: the public is always going to be overly sensitive, and we just have to stop using certain words in every definition. We must actively study words with offensive connotations, no matter how absurdly out of date, and know them only for their offensive slang, so that we don't make mistakes like this.

I knew what the real fucking word meant long before I knew the derogatory term. This is just bullshit.
It would be different if someone was like "(insert gay person) is having a gay ol' time!", because "having a gay ol' time" isn't really a saying. "A chink in the armor" is something people say. And now I will never be able to hear it without thinking of this stupid ass incident.
edit: If its definition of urban dictionary is the real fucking definition for the phrase, and not something disgustingly racist, you can probably assume its not racist
