This article got instantly buried by the front page. Maybe it's just a sorting error or something, but this probably ought to have some degree of priority if it's going to be a regular deal.

Anything that gives the site direction is a positive in my book, doubly so if it gives the forums good stuff to talk about. Great concept, Patrick. Keep 'em coming and make sure people know about this!

If Okami were to get an HD release, it would need some actual designer love to be worth showing. The graphical style is beautiful, but it looked muddy even on the PS2.

I would absolutely put down cold hard spacebucks for a copy if they actually fixed it up.

Red Faction: Guerrilla. No game does a better job with building destruction. A couple of well-placed rockets in that game is as cathartic as video games get.

I don't know how many people have heard about this (I hadn't til about 5 minutes ago), but if GB more generally gets in on this they will hit 1000 almost immediately. Filling just one server with 1000 really isn't that many players if you consider the population that plays shooters.

I don't really mind one way or the other, just as long as PC games aren't getting held back because of it.

By the virtue of AAA development on consoles, the delay IS holding back PC gaming. It is making developers grind the current hardware for better performance rather than spend their time innovating.

The length of this gen cycle is hurting everyone, from manufacturing to development to the end-user.

I completely agree; the "SimRegion" is easily my biggest gripe with SimCity 4. Without that hurdle, it would be the uncontested champion of the genre.

Sadly, Maxis seems less and less inclined to make a true sequel to 4. The emergence of games like Dawn of Discovery and Tropico nonetheless gives me hope that empire/city building will expand rather than contract as a genre in the next few years.

Sennheiser's open headphones are the comfiest things with two earmuffs (HD 500 series). If you have roommates the sound bleeding might be trouble, but otherwise they are easily my favorites for continuous use. They don't have thumping bass, though; that's a dealbreaker for some.

Napoleon creams and Graham's Port. Way too sweet together, and perfect all the same for rounding out a cookie-intensive holiday.

If you can't switch off the analysis, just obsess about the mechanics instead. Flip to the other side. The illusion a video game puts in front of you is only discouraging if it's addressed as an illusion. For all the parlor tricks and apparent shallowness involved in converting action to graphics, video games are not at all simple; you might do well to actively rather than passively grasp at the way elements are put together. I was in your shoes a couple years ago and this is mostly how I got over it.

That said, you might just not be as in to games at the moment as you once were. Two or three hours is a movie-worth of gaming; that's plenty on a regular basis to enjoy what the medium has to offer. Don't push against your apathy too hard or you might break altogether (I have a friend who has done that too).

I was still a werewolf at the end of the game. If it prevents something on the main drag I did not encounter it.
