The standard answer is "upgrade all drivers" (esp video card, mobo, audio, directX). 
The next thing I'd do is disable all network connections and then disable your anti-virus + firewall.  (Disabling network is for safety; antivirus + firewall are what we really want to test since they can sometimes interfere with syscalls or hdd usage).

They need to change the name.  In racing, DNF means "did not finish".  
 
Gearbox working on it makes me slightly more interested (b/c of their work on Borderlands) but not by much.

Wow I really like the art style, effects, and smoothness of animation.  Def one of the better looking Wii games to date

woa big news.  Wonder what else will be ported?  I guess whatever engine they are building portal 2 on (source?) has been ported to ps3 so maybe we can expect future valve games to also come over?
